I try to use fresh fruits/veggies whenever I can, because the flavor and texture is always better. But frozen vegetables and fruits are available all year-round, unlike their fresh counterparts. So if I want to make a raspberry tart in the middle of January, I'm going to have to use frozen berries. The quality of the product (in this case, the tart) won't suffer much because of the other ingredients used in baking. If I want to just eat fresh raspberries, I'll have to wait until summer.

Most canned fruits/veggies contain some added sodium (salt) and other preservatives. Read the can! But in a few cases, the canned variety is actually MORE nutritious that the fresh variety. Some manufacturers add nutrients to their canned goods ("fotrifying" the product). Also, in the case of tomatoes, your body can't absorb the lycopene (a very effective antioxidant) from the fresh fruit...the tomatoes HAVE to be canned (or cooked) for you to get the nutrient benefits.

In my opinion (in order of preference), it's fresh, frozen, and (finally) canned.

Actually frozen fruits and vegetables are best for you even better than fresh because they are frozen shortly after they are picked and that locks in the nutrients and keeps them fresh.Fresh vegetables will lose some nutrients over time the longer they stay in the supermarket the more nutrients they lose. After frozen fruits and veggies I think fresh fruits and veggies are the next best but I'm not sure. But I do know for sure that frozen is best.

Frozen

frozen are fresher than canned as they are not processed in the same way and often canned food is high in salt and sugar. I have to say though that I adore tinned potatoes and most veggies from a can, it's childhood thing, it reminds me of eating at my aunties house. She was really poor and used to make us tinned potatoes and peas with hot dog sausages.

definitely frozen.... from what I understand, the process vegetables go through in the canning process really drains them of the vitamins and minerals. (plus they have a ton of sodium). Go fresh when you can, then go frozen...

frozen is better than canned. not only for it's taste but nutritionally better since it's fresh "flash" frozen. Canned has way too much sodium.

There are probably less preservatives in frozen, I'll go with that on a whim.
