65% of American have herpes?

I was talking to a girl at school and she had cold sores clearly visible and she still tried to get me to take her out. wtf don't people care about this disease?

Having a cold sore does not mean she has genital herpes. People with simplex one shouldn't be shunned like that.

Just don't kiss them, share drinks or utensils.

I have been lucky to keep from getting it. My mom and brother have it. My husband and I are both herpes free so our son is too.

Cold sores on the mouth are not the same as genital herpes. I get cold sores on the mouth after every cold I get or even if I get a sunburn. And I have since I was 5. But, No, I do not have genital herpes and neither does my mom. They are not the same virus. Sure chicken pox and measles are in the same group as each other but they're not the same illness. Stop being so judgemental

the good thing is that out of those 65% of people in America who have herpes, i'm not part of them. Its like people in other countries who have AIDS, they sleep around with other people just to get revenge on the men if it was a man you contage them the disease. That is just nasty and they should count it as murder. They are actually killing those people.

Thank the Goddess I'm not one of them...There are many different forms of the disease itself...I have seen sores on children as young as three though so I'm not sure if all forms are sexually transmitted. It is gross though and there are many ways to treat it and avoid getting it. You're smart not to go out with her and to avoid putting yourself in the line of danger...If she was begging you to take her out, that says a great deal about how loose morals might have led her to come in contact with the disease...Best Wishes to you.

Yah, herpes of the mouth (cold sores)...this statistic may be true. As long as it's not an open sore, you should be fine. But still, she should see about how to cure it with medicine.

As long as they get to/want to have sex, then they don't mind leaving you outta the know about them having the disease...that's just some peeps tho' some actually try and inform their partners that they've got herpes. I wouldn't wish this disease on my worse enemy.

That's because she doesn't know that its contaigous or she doesn't care. Let's say you made out with her and then she went down on you, you would now have genital herpes. I've heard that 3 out of 4 people who have herpes don't know they do.
