Religion has greatly impacted society...
Most of the laws of the United States were influnced by religious teachings.
Many organizations that help to promote peace and unity between nations were formed by religious individuals.
Many of the organizations that help to end poverty, famine, illiteracy, ect....are religious organizations.
In every society, religion has greatly impacted society whether you want to believe it or not.

Religious contrubutions to a society are done by man. But the contribution religion has to ones self has endless limits. In the past, religion had many posotive effects on mankind. But times have changed. In islam, the arabs before the prophet muhammad(pbuh) used to bury thier daughters alive. That is who they were truly warring against. Pagans who committed acts that would be considered travesties. And I am not saying that all pagans are evil because that is far from the fact. For there are many great pagans out there. Like Ghandi. Who showed great tolerance towards islam. But religion does not really contrubute to society, but only the benefits to ones self for self improvement. Righteous contributions to society are simply done by good people. Even if it is religous people doing this, it is still done by people. Some are not even religous, but just want to be a good person. From blood donations to money donations. Bye LOVE!

Islamic civilization is based on the freedom that God gave mankind where Moslems 1400 years ago were able to think freely about every issue that relate to human life.1400 years ago the world was living
in darkness. 1400 years ago, there were Islamic universities where most scientific subject was taught.Islam established the term Human Rights in areas like social classes quality, women rights
, abolishment of slavery where in past the world did not recognize any human rights
In the past women were sex propriety where the in west the catholic church called for one marriage only there was no freedom to divorce and men committed Adultery most of the time remember king Henry lovers

It keeps the crazies off the streets on Sunday mornings.
But seriously folks, the churches and cathedrals are beautiful (although the money could have been better spent by feeding the poor) and some of the music is quite nice (although some of the musicians were FORCED to write for the Church.)

Islam has had a huge role in human rights, it legistlated the freedom of thought, speech, transportation, possession, and equality(Banishment of slavery).
It declared these rights 1400 years before the UN did.

It gives people that want to do the right thing a place to congregate that would not otherwise exist. Sure most religions and churches could stand to be better, but you could say that about just about anything.
