The answers in this category show that a lot of people answering don't believe in God - so why are they on here surfing?

If a person is genuinely interested in religion & spirituality - then my question isn't directed so much to them as to those who come onto this category purely in a negative way, to make fun of those who believe in God

The comments I make OBVIOUSLY don't mean those who have an interest in spiritual things but those who scoff at people who do

I love it when they continually come back with "It's not a Christian forum", it's for religion and spirituality......
I say they are here for one of two reasons...They are scoffers as the Bible talks about, without true wisdom, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of truth
OR
They are seeking. They feel to be accepted in today's society it is more popular to believe what the majority believes, after all no one wants to be an outcast (in their mind)....But in their hearts they know that the riduculous beliefs thay have don't hold water, and they know there must be something more to this life than just BANG...LIVE....DIE

I chose to answer your question because of what I see in it. I may be very wrong and if so do forgive me OK.
I must ask you this : Do you ever use a dictionary in regards to the words you use?
Please do not be offended because I did not mean to do that OK. I just would like for you to look up the word religion as a start in the Yahoo reference dictionary. I am sure you will see the following in the definition or religion as a noun: A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.
That kinda opens the door very wide to anyone who has a cause. principle, or activity just as you did in the posting of your question.
Can you see that and agree with me or do you see that I have read these word wrong in the dictionary? If so, I have a contact posted on my profile and I am at cjkeysjr@yahoo.com.ph for email. I do answer all email except spam.
I do admit you did post one option but I see an unlimited list of other possibilities for individuals to visit this section. Why not keep the door open to all and maybe your God will like that. I do not know because I do not know your God. I only know My God a little.
My friend do have a good day and do try to relate to everyone and maybe by your life you may win some to the correct path. Who knows what your God can do.
Now have a good day and do smile OK

It is not necessary to have a strong (or any) belief in a deity in order to have an interest in matters religous or spiritual. There are many potential reasons for "non-believers" to browse and contribute. Amongst these must figure understanding the beliefs of others in order to deal with them - just because I'm not an evil Nazi or a selfless aid worker doesn't mean I can't learn somthing be studying them, it certainly doesn't imply I want to become one or the other.

About 20 people have said this but I am going to re-iterate it anyway, it is RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY. This includes any spritualists which does not mean religious. Why do Christians want to claim this forum for their own? Anyway it is good to have different opinions on things, that is how the human race has evolved, what would have happened if a caveman had never got the crazy idea to make fire, or walk on 2 legs? Open your mind just as this forum is open to anyone who wants to help and communicate with people from all backgrounds and belief systems!

Being spiritual has nothing to do with any belief in any God/s. Are you saying that Atheists can't be spiritual? Even if they aren't they have a right to see what others think and believe in.

I agree with you. get rid of all non Christians from here, so all you believers can simply have a forum to pat each other on the back because obviously you already know everything. Oh, hang on a minute. I forgot about the many different splits within the Christian movement. Anyway, ignoring that, as Christians seem to do, why stop here? In fact, what are all these non-Christians doing cluttering up our lovely planet. Let's just get rid of them all. Sorry, forgot again, the U.S. is already well down that road.
(For anyone who didn't get this, look up irony in the dictionary)

Oh, honey, do I seriously have to explain this to you? The category is called "Religion and Spirituality", not "Christianity". There are many, many other religions and spiritual ideologies in the world. Only 33% of the global population is Christian.
In addition, a lack of religion or spirituality is just as important as any other belief. It is just as much a part of this category as anything else.
You are quite confused.

even if you dont understand it there is a spirituality to non belief too. and i hope you dont honestly think that christians are the only religion. even in the federal courts and because of good groups like ACLU (american civil liberties union) other religions are now bonafide. in 1974 in a federal case called dittmer vs landon. the church of wicca was recognized as a real religion and as such qualified for all 1st amendment rights to free excersize of religion. therefor to discriminate against any wiccan is a federal law that you can be held accountable for.
even though most wiccans have very defined spirituality and they can come here and discuss these concepts openly and freely atheist and non believers also have every right to the expression of their non belief. even if that means open debate of someone else's beliefs. so yes unless you wish to consider yourself a biggot (dont worry most christians are brought up that way anyway) where only your thoughts and beliefs should matter and everyone should believe what you believe. even people like that (you) are allowed here to discuss spirituality.
well hope this helps

They just want to irritate some Christians.
When Yahoo Answers first started, they were like, "Oh, boy! now I get to prove once and for all that GOD isn't real, because I'm so smart and my Atheistic views are so much better and more refined than anybody else's!!!". But, after putting his dog in the fight and watching it get mauled, they decided to just be a thorn in the side of those damned Christians that weren't moved by their little opinion.
When I first came in here, I never expected to move anybody one way of the other. It's just human nature to hold on to ones beliefs for dear life, no matter what evidence to the contrary they are presented. People change when they want to and not a moment sooner. I just try to put some good information out there so that they'll know, when they decide to change, that there IS someone out there that knows what they're going through and, if at all possible, has their back.
That's really the best anyone can expect to do.

Actually, I'm surprised to find so many Christians here! The Christians I know are loathe to read anything non-Christian.
Do you believe Christians have a "corner" on spirituality? Try Kabbalah sometime.
