ask him or some young people his age, a lot of kids anymore want to go bowling, to a theme park, or maybe just have cake and ice cream and invite a couple of boys or more to come over and watch movies or play video games and hang out. What a wonderful grand mother, I am having one for an 8 yr old saturday myself, she is also my grand daughter. good luck!

If he's into girls (not real shy) seems like the ideal time for his first boy girl party. Just give them some things to do - ideally like pool, ping pong, video games - some good music and room for dancing and some munchies. They should be able to take care of everything else. Don't crowd them by hanging out the whole time but pop in frequently to replenish the snacks and do a head count to make sure no one has snuck off for some private time.
If he's a little more shy and would prefer a guys night I would suggest taking them somewhere they could go go-carting, since 16 is that driving age!! or maybe laser tag!!
Good Luck - Hope you give him a great 16th Birthday!!

well, find a dj to play some of his fav music or let him play some of his fav music. If you have money you could rent a ping pong table or set up a volleyball net. Have all drinks with the words beer on it that do not contain alcohol. root bear, birch bear
make nonalcoholic jello shots. Have a water balloon fight in the yard.

I went through all of my son's pictures with family and friends and made a DVD for him. I threw a mardi-Gras party with masks and beads. We had a DJ in the evening and set up volleyball for the afternoon. It went all day. There was no alcohol allowed. It turned out nice.

Cheap, easy and fun.....rent about 6 horror movies(let him pick), popcorn, pizza and 4-6 friends(depending on space), then let him have an all-nighter(don't call it a sleepover) with specifics that friends leave when they wake up. This will also introduce you to the kids he he hangs out with.

Its easy, all boys his age love laser-quest. Find one in your local area, invite a few of his friends, buy a nice cake, and call it a day.
