Flatulence can be caused by several different factors, usually from the food that you eat. Certain foods create more gases when being broken down than others. Here are some examples of what can cause flatulence:

Foods rich in fiber These include fruits, beans, peas and oat bran.

Foods containing fructose Fructose is a simple sugar that occurs naturally in many fruits, especially figs, dates, prunes, pears and grapes. It's also found in smaller amounts in onions, asparagus, artichokes and wheat. Fructose sometimes is added as a sweetener to soft drinks, fruit drinks, and some cookies and cakes.

Vegetables containing raffinose Raffinose is a complex sugar found in many cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower) and in beans. Beans also contain stachyose, another form of poorly digested sugar.

Sorbitol Sorbitol is used to sweeten many sugar-free gums and candies, and it also may be added as an inert ingredient to medicines.

Dairy products containing lactose, a sugar found in milk People who are lactose intolerant find it difficult to digest milk, cheese, ice cream and other dairy products. These people have unusually low levels of lactase, an enzyme needed to digest lactose. Lactose intolerance is especially common among African-Americans, Native Americans and Asians. It can appear as you grow older, even if you have not had trouble digesting milk as a child or younger adult.

What people don't know is that flatulence can often be caused by swallowing air as well. Most people think that this only causes burping. Here are some ways that people may swallow air:

Unconsciously gulping air as they talk, especially when they are upset, excited or nervous
Eating or drinking in a hurry
Chewing gum
Smoking
Drinking carbonated beverages

Short answer to your question, is that flatulence is a normal body condition, and that it does not indicate a health problem. If one feels they have more flatulence than wanted, they can attempt to modify their diet by avoiding foods in the areas mentioned above, utilize some of the over the counter remedies or try to swallow less air by modifying the intake of air.

It usually has to do with diet, higher fiber foods tend to cause more flatulence than others. It could also be caused from diary products if lactose intolerant. Does not necessarily mean health problem. If concerned visit a doctor.

I really think it has to do with their diet. Some foods like beans, dairy etc. causes some people to experience a lot of flatulence.

Starches, like potatos and breads will give you more "flatulance" than anything.

Certain vegetables, like broccoli also.

I dont know if its a 'deficiency' in some ones intestinal tract, but, it sure is aromatic and offensive if some one eats enough of those items.

I wish you well..
