Theres loads of stuff you can get them:

Clothes
Play station games
CD's
DVD's
Gift vouchers from there fav shops

You still have a little while before xmas so use the next month or 2 listening to what there hobbies are and what there fav shops are.

Maybe they can give you a list of stuff they would like and you can then choose from the list.
That way you know you are getting them sumfin they like and it will still be a suprise!

GOOD LUCK *********
If you look in the Argos catalogue they have vouchers for fun days out like paint balling and go carting. Young boys love things like that!

Everyone is soo quick to go out and buy a toy, but the reality of it is, they love it for a second, and then find something new to play with. Instead, why don't you make them something they can use all of the time, and they wont really realize it. I made all of my boy and girl cousins (since I am an only child) non-stitch blankets for Christmas, I was a little weary, but they always use them.

Here is what you do, find out what there fav color is, and go to any craft store and buy 2 yards of fleece. Make sure you wash the material after you buy it because it may still have left over dye on it. Take both pieces and lay them in a big area, a place where you will have room. Put the two pieces together and cut off any extra that you may not need. When the two pieces are together, cut out 4 squares in each corner. Next, cut a 1 inch fringe from the cut out square and do this the entire way around. I find that it is helpful to do one side at a time. Then do the same all the way around. When you first do it, it may take 2 hours, but once you figure it out, it might only take you 30mins to an hour. Hope that helps

Buy them the Alex Rider books. they are written by Anthony Horowitz and the first one, Stormbreaker, has been released as a movie (don't worry though. The movie is completely different from the book, so if they have seen the movie then it won't ruin the book for them). There are 6 books out so far, and at least one is left. It's about this boy called Alex Rider who's 14 who becomes a spy for MI6 (incase you haven't heard about them). Full of explosions, guns and danger so is sure to be loved, unless they're allergic to books. In the small chance they are, then get them cool looking sunglasses (not the same style for both). Or you could get them bouncy balls. Really cheap and will keep them busy for a few minutes :D

That age is really difficult to buy for - I normally offer to throttle anyone that talks about Christmas before November, but I don't blame you for planning ahead...

How about...
red lettter day vouchers for an activity day (like rock climbing or a driving lesson - Not sure what the age limit is but it's younger than 17...)
Tickets for concerts/football matches go down well too...

ummmm, not sure what else - you could always ask them to have a think about it? They probably have a pretty good idea what they want by that age...

Take family photos to a print shop, and have them do a custom calendar. Great keepsake.

Ditch the games... get them some good books that THEY would be interested in... not something they are forced to read.

A gift certificate to an extreme adventure - bungee jump, outdoor camp for a day, etc.

You could buy them each a donation to a charity. Last year, instead of sending cards to everyone at work I sent a donation for Darfur on their behalf. You can buy chickens, goats, tents, blankets; things that will enable others to have a better life, check out UNICEF UK; the link is listed.
