Its a lot better than it used to be, I can't remember the last time anyone was burned at the stake because some malicious neightbour said she was a witch. Intolerance comes from a fear of the unknown and extreme indoctrination into a belief system. People will never accept that different is OK, because different is scary. Just keep your own mind open and tolerant, as this is all that you can do.

I don't know. It's silly isn't it, I suppose it's one of the things we have in common with the animal kingdom. I suppose if everybody was perfect there would be no intolerance. I don't know if it has increased in proportion to the population, if I was to hazard a guess I would probably say it has because of Capaltilism, the media being more widespread etc They are probably the reasons for intolerance these days, but to quote a line from V for Vendetta, 'We only have to look in the mirror'

If you have children, would you tolerate them running into the street? I think that religious intolerance comes out of concern for those who disagree. Much like you would be intolerant to your child's belief that the street was safe place to play. That type of intolerance comes out of love.
If your talking bout another type of intolerance then I don't have an answer.

Nowadays? People have always been intolerant. If anything, it is getting better out of the sheer need to interact with others in an increasingly global society.

They're not.
People haven't changed much - in fact as societies we have improved. Remember we have a news gathering system that exists to entertain - any good piece of juicy gossip from billions of people will hit your TV - 100 years agao it was probably from 10m in your papers, 300 y ago it was from 200 people in your village.

It seems evil is increasing, and tolerance is fueling the flames.
Is God tolerant? Or was sin so serious to God that He sent His only Son to die for us?
Does God embrace Islam, Muhammed, Buddah, money, lust, drunkedness, or whatever else your false religion or idol is? CERTAINLY NOT! The first commandmant tells us that He is a jealous God, and wants us first to love Him with all we are! The Bible also tells us that He is patient and long-suffering...but the day is coming...just like the day of the Flood, or the day of Sodom and Gommorrah, when the faithful will be taken out of harm's way, and God's wrath will be focused on the earth.

They are insecure and frightened by people, cultures, and lifestyles they do not understand. They have to justify themselves and prove they are better than everyone else. However, they don't believe they are better which is why they slag off everyone else. They are trying to make themselves feel better but all they do is stir up frustration, hatred and anger in themselves.
If they learned to accept other people without judgement, they would find peace.

I'm not intolerant, I just think old people shouldn't go shopping the same day as me. And that's why I threw her in the freezer ...

People have always hated each other because of their religion. Look at the crusades! Look at the roman persecution of christians, or the nazi persecution of jews. Sometimes people don't know how to react to things that are different.
It's sad but true.
It is a dark world we live in!
