There are real economic issues but this sort of thing is much worse than what most of them are doing and is inexcusable.

I think we anti-s have to be clear that this sort of thing is NOT acceptable. The issues aren't racist, but it seems that some racists are jumping onto the bandwagon.

I do not agree with violence, these 2 men should be arrested and made to do jail time, there are other ways to show your disapproval. One of these incidents like this from either side could trigger consequences that no one wants to see happen.
I am telling you tho, the gov. needs to start taking matters into hand and getting control of the situation, before it all boils over!

While I question the biases of that newspaper,I do not agree with anyone being injured . I live in Arizona and yes,I can tell an illegal,because the congregate at different spots in Phoenix that are made just for illegals to wait and try to get hired by people.They have tables and shade covers because of the hot weather.
If you are legal in Phoenix and want to work.YOU ARE working,not waiting to get hired by the job or by the day.
The argument was an argument and I don't think it was a hate crime.a crime yes but not a hate crime.Temper flare in any argument and I'm sure the illegals called out racists names also.I'm not excusing the crime of trying to hurt another person,but I do feel perhaps there are a lot more details that were not in that papers article.

Another thumbs down for illegal immigrants hit the news this past week. It seems that hygiene and toilets are not an everyday habit and so, the laborers are taking a convenient dump in the spinach patch.

I do have to say though that this is going to become more common as the citizens of this country get more and more fed up and more and more frustrated feeling that nothing is being done. It is human nature. No, it is not right, but illegal immigration is out of control, the citizens of this country are starting to feel strangled by it. Fight or flight.

People have taken a stance and told the government to curtail it! So George Bush sends a few troops to the border to apease folks but the Mexicans still flow into this country at the rate of 10,000 per day!! If George can't get the job done, the people are going to!!! That border is not a "great" challenge to curtail the flow of illegal Mexicans!!!
Here's for thought! Do you have health insurance these days? Well, 40 million AMERICANS don't but every illegal immigrant does!!!! Who do you think pays for it??

I agree with you, violence is one of the things we don't want. I want a peaceful place to live and I don't like racism. I know that wanting the illegals out is considered racism by some but that is not true. A crime is a crime whether it is entering into the country under the fence or hating someone for their race and injuring them.

My question is "What does an 'illegal' look like?" I'm a U.S. citizen but you'd never know it unless I showed you my passport and birth certificate and you took the time and trouble to verify that they are authentic.

People who do the things you've cited are simply evil and hateful...it has nothing to do with "legalness."

Besides, exactly who gets to decide which laws are to be "enforced" by running over the law-breaker. Probably every person, citizen and otherwise, breaks SOME law everyday...speeding, littering, jaywalking, keeping OTC medicines in an non-approved container, stealing time from their employer, etc.

Has the time come that it's OK to run down EVERYBODY who has ever broken a law?

This issue is absolutely racist. Everyone is claiming "homeland security", yet every person responsible for all terrorists attacks on the US either: flew in legally with a visa, crossed the CANADIAN border, or IS NATIVE BORN FROM THE UNITED STATES(and white, christian, english speaking). No one is crying about the Canadian border. As for drug trade, in the first place DEA handles that not INS. The majority of the drugs that come into our country are smuggled through our "secure" checkpoints that are already there. What they need to do is get incorruptable security at the checkpoints we already have. As for the economy, most illegals that are here do pay taxes, they just pay to fake social security numbers. If it is crime you are worried about, there are far more "Americans" that commit crimes against other Americans than illegals. All this is just spin doctors and propaganda that is being dealt out by these racist orginazations. Another thing for you to chew on, we are all illegals here except for the Native Americans. Just ask a Native, he will tell you they did not give documents or papers to the flood of illegal immigrants that came here between 1460s to 1800s. And when the "American" government started handing out papers in the early 20th century, those were invalid and illegal by the standards that are being set forth in the current debate over immigration.

As for health insurance and welfare, there are far more "Americans" who are taking advantage of the system than illegals. If that is your claim, than you are contradicting yourself when you say that illegals are taking all our jobs. I worked for the Health Dept. and I have seen far more "white, Christian Americans" living off medicaid and food stamps than illegals. I also have worked in construction when I was younger. You could always tell the Americans from the illegals, not because of the color of their skin since usually we got so dirty we all looked the same, but because the illegals worked harder than any other group.

Katsluver it is you who should pick up a history book. I know my history very well, I just don't choose to bend it to my satisfaction. The Native Americans did cross here over the Bering Straight and they took the land from noone over 30,000 years ago. So, to me they have more claim to this land then we do with our meager 350 years of conquista. After we stole this land from them and drove them into near extinction. I suppose you support Isreal as well, talk about blind faith. The Palestinians also had a stake in that land far before the Jews fled persecution to do their own persecuting.(See Canaanites of 3000 BC) It seems it is you who should think for yourself and not follow the masses, who by the way claim to be Christian, doesn't Christianity teach to "Love thy neighbor". There is nowhere that is says Love thy neighbor but only if they are white Christian and from the same race and country as you. I still haven' found that passage yet, let me know if you see it. By the way, a true Liberal by definition, helps others to help themselves. There could not be anything more true than allowing those who wish to have the opportunity to come here and work, the chance to do just that. So, you must not know your true history.
