Nope, I sure don't... Like you said, it's not the Christians or Jews that are blowing up people. We also don't get offended as easily and we don't threaten people with killing them if they don't say what we think they should. If my memory serves me correctly, their Koran (Quran) does say, in effect, "death to all Christians" - and people, that doesn't mean just the ones they don't like, that means all of us. They act all nice because they are in our country, but I have a friend that's married to a Muslim (crazy!) and he told her straight up, when it comes time for the end of the world, you will mean nothing to me, because you are a Christian and we are ordered to kill all of you so that we will be heroes... They don't get to pick and choose... I think the pope was right on in saying what he said and I hope that he doesn't apologize for the way he feels. I have nothing but respect for men who stand up for their religious beliefs!!

He should have appealed to the leaders of the nations with upset people. Perhaps they could have explained the situation and defused the problem.
The quote was from records of a 14th century conversation. Not entirely the Pope's own words.
Many people in the west find Islam very confusing, and they would like to gain a better understanding. However, if people continue to choose to riot in the streets every time a westerner so much as mentions the words "Muslim" or "the Prophet Muhammad" this situation will continue to deteriorate.
We will not get the chance to learn more unless we are allowed to discuss the religion of Islam without fear of mobs each time we try to have a dialogue.

For what, if it is an apology they are looking for they should ask the guy who made the statement, he has been dead for 500 years, but there should be enough of them in paradise with the 72 virgins each, if they are not too tired from all that sex and drinking from the river of wine they should go find the guy and make him give them an apology, instead of killing a nun, because of something the Pope read, but did not write! Uggahhhh don't get me started!

you too haven't read the whole speech. The relevant issue is that he quoted from a man who disliked the mohommedans. What is important though is was that 14th century Emperor right or wrong. The history books tell us that he was indeed right. So, the probable reason for the objections is that is ruins the mohommedans efforts to rewrite history and make themselves squeaky clean.
If that's the case, then the Pope should have said it. There's been too many attempts to rewrite history recently (Irving) and Mahmood Aminoacid (or whatever) is still trying.

The overreacted to what he said. Apologizing was the only correct thing to do from a religious point of view, so since he is the Pope…absolutely.
Not sure where but the bible says “…as far as it depends upon you make peace with all men….
Also from a public relations and a political point of view it was smart to apologize.

Christians just bomb them instead. Yes, the pope should apologize and next time, he should take care of the problems in his own religion before worrying about others.
Go do a innocent death count in this century of those killed by Muslims and by those who state they are Christian. The truth shows loud and clear in the evidence.

Yes, he should apologize!! More importantly, he shouldn't have said what he said in the first place! He has an enormous responsibility in his position as the leader of the Catholic Church! He should be promoting peace and tolerance not inciting a growing segment of people who want to wipe out anyone who doesn't share their beliefs!

Nope, he shouldn't apologized at all! Some of those people are to dense not to read the whole lecture of the Pope and they just conclude whatever they want to conclude without the right facts.
