The Great Wall of China (Traditional Chinese: è¬éé·å, Simplified Chinese: ä¸éé¿å; pinyin: Wà nlÇ Chángchéng; literally "10,000 Li (é)¹ long wall") is a Chinese fortification built from the 3rd century BC until the beginning of the 17th century, in order to protect the various dynasties from raids by Hunnic, Mongol, Turkic, and other nomadic tribes coming from areas in modern-day Mongolia and Manchuria. Several walls were built since the 3rd century BC, the most famous being the Great Wall of China built between 220 BC and 200 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang (this was located much further north than the current Great Wall of China built during the Ming Dynasty, and little of it remains).

actually the great wall of china is actually really young, it just looks old to conceal the missile silos in there, the chinese have at least thousands of nuclear missiles stored in the great wall, they have been stockpiling since 5000 B.C., that's right the chinese had nuclear weapons thousands of years ago.

it was built as a defense mechanism...though it didnt work b/c the "enemies" just went around it..haha...seriously. it's an amazing thing to see though, i've been a few times and i'm amazed everytime. they literally built a huge wall scaling mountains...absolutely amazing, but not very practical as they were still attacked.

For defence. Oh and did you know that they stuffed dead bodies of slaves inside while they were building it? My history teacher told me.
