Really nice of you to want to give them thank you gifts. A nice thank you card with a personalized note is often enough, but if you're going to buy gifts, consider something small for each, of comparable value and not too personal (I wouldn't buy bath stuff, for example). Cost is less important than the thought, right? Flowers, potted plants, bookstore gift certificates, glassware, and picture frames are practical and tend to be appreciated. I agree that including a homemade item from your child would mean a great deal to them as well. For the teacher that you know best/want to give a special gift to, consider her interests and purchase something along those lines. You might want to give her a basic gift (I like the restaurant or spa service gift certificate idea) and/or make a donation on her behalf to her favourite charity or something to do with early childhood education depending upon your budget. I'm sure they'll appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness whatever you do!

I used to work as a preschool teacher and from previous experience, I appreciated gift cards. Preschool teachers don't earn a lot of money, and sometimes we invest our own money for school supplies, so receiving a gift card gave me the opportunity to buy something for myself.
I always made sure to to tell the parents what I bought with the gift card.
Congratulations on your son's accomplishment and I wish him luck in kindergarten.

As a teacher I would have to say that when parents ask this question I always say something for the classroom that everyone can use and/or enjoy. A small silver/ silver plated object for polishing and admiring is a popular item. Small beautifully decorated boxes for storing things...
One time though, I got a gift certificate for a massage and THAT was great.

How about those Small books about Teacher's and such. For a really special teacher I would get them something special enough that it's like in the range of $15, how about a fruit basket with chocolate?

Being a preschool teacher, I can tell you please no apples or candles. But I did get a gift certificate to a nursery and loved that. Also I would stay away from "teacher" items, we all have tons of that stuff. But a bouquet of flowers are always lovely or small piece of sterling silver. Hope this helps.

When I worked in Kindergarten, us teachers used to get
" Chicken Soup for the Teacher's Soul " books,
gift certificates, child-made cards & pictures,
small jewelry boxes, paperweights, pic. frames,
soap sets, or just basically anything you get for an
aunt, grandma or your own mom!
And I must say, what was written in the card was
always what meant the most to us!
Especially if the child signed it in their own handwriting.
That was so special!

Being a teacher, I have received many different gifts from my students. Though it's always sweet when I receive things for my classroom, it's a nice change to receive something that is more personal: gift cards for ice cream, dinner, a dept. store, movie tickets, specialty stores, spas, etc. When a teacher has the opportunity to relax and spend time to rejuvenate herself she will be better able to care for and teach your children.

An expensive box of chocolates for all 4, plus for the special gift, maybe a picture frame or photo album?

You can guide him along in the making of a simple card -I'm sure his teacher will be absolutely delighted by your son's efforts.
Other suggestions: Picture frame, music box, snowglobe, ornaments.
Good luck with the gifts =)

Why not do something unrelated to class - that's probably what they expect from you. A gift set from Bath & Body Works.. some bath gel/lotion or even antibacterial lotion/wipes or something. Everyone likes a little pampering..and after a day with preschoolers I couldn't think of anything better.
