Let me get this straight. The Pope’s statements sparked worldwide Muslim anger because they were seen as portraying Islam as a religion tainted by violence.
In the speech, the Pope referred to criticism of the Prophet Mohammad by 14th century Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus.
The emperor said everything the Prophet Mohammad brought was evil "such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
So here is the reaction:
In Somalia, an Italian nun was killed in an attack one Islamist source said could be linked to the dispute.
Hundreds of angry demonstrators burned an effigy of the Pope in the Iraqi city of Basra and called for him to be tried by an international court.
"We shall break the cross and spill the wine ... God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome ... (May) God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen."
This is laughable. Seems as though those statements are accurate to me.

Also worth noting: I am not religious, I'm just sick of what I see going on between religions and the furor simple words can create among some people.

I agree. Linked below is a well-informed article pointing out that the Koran has a lot more passages calling for violence towards non-believers than the New Testament. Mohammed happily used violence to spread his religion whereas Jesus allowed himself to be crucified. People keep saying 'oh, all religions are the same'. Remember, six years ago John Paul II apologised for the Crusades and the Inquisition. When will Muslims apologise for the violence with which they spread their religion? Unfortunately they have a lot of growing up to do before they get past their current stage of jumping up and down in the streets whenever anyone criticises them.

Where did you get that last statement from?
Muslims believe in Christianity by the way and they would not break any cross, besides that there are Christians living in peace in almost all Muslim countries. I have to laugh... really!
Muslims do believe in Christianity that's why it offends them so much to be insulted by those they have no hard feelings for.
You people will never stop until it's a real new world war.

Yes, the Pope's statements were right and exact. I saw his apology as a weakness,
and I'm sure the Muslims did too. A kink in the armor is never a good thing. The Pope should
have shown strength, instead he showed he
could be manipulated.
May the good Lord have mercy on us all.

To all my Muslim brothers and sisters online here. I think the best solution to the hated question being repeated posted here is just to be patient and be tolerance. Dun get upset about their comments. We know it ourselves that Islam is not about violence. Just ignore these fools and let us go about doing other things tat are more important than trying to convince these people about our religion. We cannot change them if they would not want to change themselves.
Just pray to Him for guidance. Ramadhan is around the corner, pray to Him for the safety of other Muslims and also to the other people from diff races and religion. And pray for peace. Those radical muslims will get their retribution here or the life-after. All we can do is pray. And hope for the best.
Amin!
