Sometimes I think you could substitute the word 'convert' others to 'control' others. I am tired of religious fanatics arrogance in trying to convert others - and I used to be religious myself so I know the process. If you truly care about the salvation of others try practicing what you preach first. Trying to convert people just irritates.

I've never tried to convert others, because religion is a very personal thing between each of us and God. I have to add that nobody has ever tried to convert me either and I'm wondering who you speak of when you mention those who do. The only reason I can give for people doing this, is that they are so excited by their enlightenment, that they want to share it with others and if this is the case, it can't really be termed as controlling. We're given loads of information everyday and it's up to the individual to decide what he wants to absorb and what he chooses to ignore; it's called freedom of choice.

Hi,

Kinda think you are right. Feel that conversion is a process in the body/mind, much different then what is commonly understood as conversion. Like what was up with people wanting to change the native americans by force?? Why not put the beliefs next to eachother, learn from eaxchother?? We all have the spark within.

And I think there is a certain kind of Christians that puts people off having faith, by going against what they would do did they follow their hearts, true selves, or, yeah the real meaning of the scripture. Often it is totally opposite from Jesus teaching, the behaviour,, think it must really frustrate Him (no i know)//

This said, calling His name has saved my life and I think if He got me around He will manage to get the others (yeah gotta be the witness after all, but not to force you in any way, the whole thing goes down quite different from the picture we have been painted by church and what not. Just do not forget, you may need the info one day..Just calling, I was in deeper **** then you an imagine. Nothing like normal life stuff either. It was quite obvious I needed to be saved all of a sudden. It is a funny situation i am in because i do not wanna scare, yet what happened to me was sooo intense.. anyway enough with the witnessing bit)

Love

Isn't it interesting that even meanstream religious folks demonstrate traits of cults? eg using stock phrases 'wages of sin' - who would ever use that phrase except when its been knocked through your skull repeatedly.

The Born-again crowd and World Endists are the best at it - give them a chance and they start talking like old testament prophets!

Religion is all about control - in fact that is all it is - if there was no control people would have to try and make sense of the material themselves.

No easy matter - to have to invest time and effort into making a decision. Its so much easier to join the flow - in fact if truth be told most people realise that - ask 99% of christians a few searching questions about their religion and they will quickly show how little they know about it. Its cultural - we love a crowd.

Let me ask you a question. If you found the solution to AIDS what would you do? Would you share it with a love one who is suffering? Would you share it with friends? Would you share it with your community, your city, country, world? Or would you keep it to yourself and be selfish? What would you do?
What would you do if their was an illness so bad that it caused people to rape, sexually assault children, murder, steal, lie, cheat, hate? An illness so terrible that it will kill everybody eventually. What if their was an illness like that and you had the solution what would you do? Would you keep it to yourself or would you share it?
What a stupid question. Their can't be an illness that does that.
Read your paper, watch the News. Every day you read or see or hear the News you see the effects of this deadly sickness. I even suffer from it. In ffact their isn't a single person you know that doesn't suffer from it. In fact we are born with it. What is this crazy illness? SIN that's what. Every man, woman, and child on this planet suffers from it and no medicine will cure it. Mankind has tried to find a remedy since the dawn of time, but to no avail.
Nothing I do, or you, or anyone else can stop the effects of sin. It will destroy us all in the end. It makes aids seem like a walk in the park.
Their is no man made solution to this sickness. But their is a solution. But why should I tell you? You'll think that I'm trying to convert you. But what would you do in my shoes? If you where me what would you do?

"convert" sounds very institutional. I believe that people becoming Christians (as I'm a Christian) is a fantastic thing, and that there's nothing really better, but they have to genuinely find God themselves. Dogmatically preaching at people doesn't work, as people truly find God through experiencing God's love, either through the love of others or through a direct experience of God. I share my faith and my beliefs but don't try to enforce them on other people.

The truth is that if people don't truly want to be converted to something then they won't be receptive to the statements within whatever religious group it is at the time.

Christians are to spread the Good News of Christ to the whole earth. To convert or not convert is a personal choice.

Christians are compelled by love and a profound gratitude of Christ for what He has done to follow His commands. He commanded us to share the Good News. We share for the same reason Jesus came to be our Redeemer: LOVE.

Sometimes I think non-believers lump all faiths into one heap and naively despise them all. This is simply a deception...a trap. When they hear the Truth of Christ, many feel condemned, and do not like it...maybe they feel like religion is some sort of evil control. Others fall on their knees and humbly ask for forgiveness. Faith is life changing...it also saves your soul from the pits of darkness and the lake of fire for eternity. You ought to, like Christ said, 'count the cost' before you commit. God, however, wishes that none will perish.

Hinduism never converts anyone because they believe that everyone is born Hindu and converted to other religions.

Sorry. Same old rubbish again, only this time we're being invited to explore a few other sites to convince us even more.....
Waste of time looking in this direction. I've got better things to do.

frankly, I couldn't care less what your Religious Belief System is as you have the free will and freedom of religion to worship or not worship the way you desire.
