Why is there always mayo in ready-made sandwiches? Even when it shouldn't be there, like in a Ploughmans or Cheese n Pickle. Anyone think that it's just wrong? Why can't they just attach a sachet of mayo to the pack so you can add it if you like it?

That's a good idea. While they're at it, they could put the lettuce and tomato in a packet too so I can chuck it away instead of having to pick it out! I like M&S egg & prawn rolls but they fill it up with manky lettuce which I hate. But you're right - too much mayo in the world.

You can buy sandwiches without mayo but there are not many places that do pre-packed sandwiches without mayo. I find going to a proper sandwich shop and getting sandwiches freshly made is the best option, at least they are fresh then and you can choose what ingredients you want.

I think all pre-packed sandwiches taste the same. They should be banned. Too salty and yes, too much mayo.

I agree and there is always about a pound of margarine type spread on them so that is all you can taste. They are vile horrid inventions. Only egg mayo are tolerable.

Morrisons do a range called just beef or just ham or just chicken etc., and they're as good as their word!

i also think its wrong, but its been happening for years. they put it in as a cheap flavour enhancer and also to stop the bread going dry. try making your own its cheaper and tastier and healthier (maybe)
