how do you perform your marriage cerimony? Since you don't believe in God, you don't use a pastor to marry you, Do you use vows, Do you light a unity candle? The word says "and the two shall become one" Do you believe that? Tell me your age Mr. Advocate.

Thanks for your answers but there is no need to be rude (cpt queen). I for one am someone who really wants to know these things. Not to judge or to belittle you in any way i just want to know. Is that so bad? If you get offended at this question maybe you should grow up and not answer it at all.

Of course. We were married in a church. My wife is agnostic. We wanted to get married elsewhere, but we agreed as we had many older people coming from overseas, and the weather could be bad the time of year we got married. It was a nondenominational service. We knew others could not handle our beliefs. Never said the two shall become one.

Marriage doesn't need to involve god at all, it's more an agreement between the parties involved, basically a symbol of love (which, by the way atheists still feel). Personally I don't much care for the institution of marriage as a whole though, but that's just me.
Interesting fact: Atheists, and agnostics have a divorce rate of 21%, compared to that of Christians 24%, and born again Christians 27%.
And as far as asking my age, I'd really like you to stop this shameless flirting.

Marriages, among athiests are purely a civil and legal matter. Usually they are performed by a judge, or more likely a justice of the peace, someone that is legally empowered to perform marriages but not through any religious body.
There are sets of marriage vows that can be given that are completely lacking in religious overtones.
Personally, I see marriage as a SOLELY religous institution and the legal system should not have any say in who gets married, when they get married, how they get married, when they get married, or why they get married.

Atheists are not people who are all cut from the same mold. Each has his own likes and dislikes, his own beliefs, tastes, etc.
The only difference between them and religious people is that Atheists do not believe in Gods of any type.
Did we exchange vows ? You bet. Forsake all others 'till death do us part. We've been doing exactly that for fifty-two years, and will continue until the end.
We vow on our honor, religious people on their God. How many religious people keep their vows to their God ? Remember, the vow does not say," I'll try to forsake all others ". And it does not say, " 'Till divorce do us part ".
Some of the most honorable and honest people I know are non-believers. Some of those who make a big deal about how holy they are, well I wouldn't turn my back to them.

I am ordained, and I am athiest. God does not have to be mentioned at all during a marriage ceremony. Get your head out of your butt and realize that just because we dont believe in the bible and god doesnt mean we dont live normal lives.
