Not at all.
I have been to Istanbul and people were really friendly and hospitable.
I'm Greek and I really find we have lots of things in common in terms of food, music, customs.

You're great people neighbour!

I was in the Air Force many years ago and was assigned to Turkey for a little over a year. I enjoyed it very much, and for the most part, the people. Being tall and blonde I tended to stand out and was somewhat offended on more than a few occasions by the way the men, especially, treated me. I got the impression that they assumed all American women who looked like me to be "loose" women. It was rarely anything overt, more along the lines of leering, dirty looks, following me and laughing...that sort of thing. I always assumed they picked up that perception from our movies and TV so I didn't get terribly angry about it, but didn't like it either.

Anyway, that was my experience.

The only Turkish person I know is a friendly fun
girl that was a student in a class with my wife. That
was in D.C.

A small sample, I know. But nothing negative.

Why are you only interested in negative experiences?

Not a single problem, and I have visited Turkey four times by now. I plan to come again, of course.
