I think wisdom has to do with knowledge management. There is material wisdom and spiritual wisdom.
For instance, it is material wisdom for the salesman to limit information given regarding a particular product.
Spiritual wisdom is not creating trouble for others by selling them a product that does not perform as well as claimed. That would be good karma even if it might mean a loss in sales.

Wisdom is the thoughtful application of specific knowledge to any given situation and the ability to foresee the potential benefit of doing so.
One advances to wisdom through this process by using a specific, thoughtful analysis of all things, specifically knowledge of one's self and your interaction with all things around you.
Faith is an integral part of that analysis, as it is said that all things come from God, which suggests that God is perfect knowledge; and by knowing God, one eventually learns wisdom.

Knowledge can be learned from reading books. One can have much knowledge about how a human body works, for example, by reading medical texts. Wisdom comes from experience. Only an experienced healer has the wisdom to observe a patient and diagnose what is wrong and how to treat it.
I think I've learned a little wisdom from two things: one is my garden. You can read hundreds of books about gardening, but you will not understand your garden at all until you spend many, many hours in the sun working in it, with love and patience!
The other way I've picked up a little wisdom is through teaching. I was knowledgeable about my topic (I teach Latin) before I began to teach it. I gained a tiny bit of wisdom from my students in the patient and fulfilling process of teaching them.
Sorry to ramble, hope this helps a little.
I still have far to go on my journey.

To advance from knowledge to wisdom you only need to live. We acquire knowledge in youth so we can be wise with age. Neither obtainable without experiencing and feeling the highs and lows of life. Wisdom is the reward for lessons learned=the knowledge we use to make fewer mistakes today than yesterday for tomorrow-hopefully

Knowledge comes from other’s experiences like books and advices from others. Knowledge never allows him to think beyond what he has learned. Wisdom comes from much higher plain where Knowledge has never dreamed off. This is because Knowledge is finite and Wisdom is infinite. Therefore we need to unlearn the Knowledge to gain wisdom. When you unlearn, you become open, innocent now you are ready for wisdom.

Hey Amanitvam,
Wisdom is knowing what to do with knowledge. When you learn about something, that is knowledge. Putting that knowledge into action for the betterment of mankind - using that knowledge to help someone, exercising your responsibilities with knowledge, those take some wisdom.
Advising you priceless.

I note that several people are giving you the answer by defining the difference between knowledge and wisdom. I do not believe this answers your question. There are basically 2 ways to advance from knowledge to wisdom; trial and error and abstract thought. Trial and error is self explanatory but will only be effective if you catalog and learn from your trials. Abstract thought is thinking things through to determine when the application of knowledge will have the desired effect, (you determine the desired effect). Abstract thought without action is as useless as not learning from your trial and error.

I would think that knowledge is when you just know about something from reading and hearing others experiences, while wisdom is actually going through all of the experiences yourself and knowing for sure what the outcome is. That's just me though.

Wisdom comes from God alone.
Only our Creator knows us and our condition fully.
"The Fear (understanding, respect) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom".
Read the Book of Proverbs (The Book of Wisdom). Profound and amazing.
