Yes, it is a pretty good Australian wine. Good quality for the price. I've had the merlot and chardonnay. Try it. You can't go wrong for the price. There are definitely better wine choices out there. May I suggest Clos Du Bois if you are looking for a good chardonnay around $12.

Nice wine...
"In this age of big business, we're proud to say [yellow tail] remains a family endeavor.
It all began way back in 1820s when the first Casellas began crafting wine in Italy. Over a century later, in 1951, Filippo Casella and his wife Maria decided to leave their homeland to pursue their hopes and dreams of a better life in Australia. Recognizing the potential of his new surroundings, Filippo purchased a farm in the small town of Yenda, New South Wales, and did what came naturally. He began selling grapes to local wineries, and by 1969 decided it was time to put his own winemaking skills to use... and the Casella winery was born.
Filippo's son, John, entered the family business in 1994 and embarked on an ambitious expansion to build a new winery with a vision of blending old world heritage with new world technology.
Today Casella Wines is run by Filippo's three sons - John, Managing Director and Winemaker; Joe, Australian Sales Director; and Marcello, Director and Vineyard Manager. Filippo's grandchildren - Phillip and Rachelle - are the sixth generation to join the business.
In 2000, Casella Wines joined forces with another family-run company, W.J. Deutsch & Sons, to bring Casella wines and [yellow tail] to the United States."

Yellow Tail's a great brand! I've had both the Chardonnay and the Merlot and was very pleased with the flavor of both.

Yellow Tail is a very good wine. They used to sell it in Olive Garden.

Thunderbird wine. More 'bang for the buck'. You can purchase 6 bottles of highly fortified grape product, for the price you paid.

I think the Australian brand was good when it first came out. I've tried all of them and they are not the best for sure but for the price it's OK.

Yellowtail wine is severely over-rated and basically it is crap. Yellowtail is to Australia as Sutter Home is to the USA. Trust me, I work at a liquor store.

For the price, it's about what is expected. There are dozens of other brands that I would buy before yellow tail.

I have tried their Merlot.
I couldn't distinguish it from similarly priced brands, but I don't claim to be an expert.
