Not much I have recently been to one my granddaugter's and the sponser just took her to the pool. I thought the whole process rather wierd and rather a lot of nonsense

The idea of a sponsor, is just someone to keep watch over the new believer and to make sure that he/she remains on the right path. Now, this should be a spiritual guidance and envolves a lot of prayer, I think most times sponsors don't realize to what extent they are actually involved..

the sponsors you pick are responsible [if anything would happen to you] to make sure you continue your religious upbring
