Question regarding magick/power for various applications.?

I have recently read about things such as crystal magick and asked a question a while back regarding negative energy. I got one interesting answer that crystals should not be charged with negative energy and put to use because they contain the users personal energy signature and will drain his energy as well as the person on the recieving end. This is just a (fairly crappy) example. But if this was true, how do you go about increasing your own personal power/energy levels? Is there any similarity between the way wiccans/pagans utilize power and the way that eastern martial artists utilize it through arts such as tai chi, dim mak and qi gong? Would doing exercises from these systems increase the amount of energy that could be used for magickal applications such as crystal magick, ritual magick, and so on? Is it a common energy that martial arts systems and spiritual magicians utilize? If so, how best to increase it?

It doesn't make sense that an item charged with negative energy would continuously drain the energy of the person who charged it. If this were so, would an item charged with positive energy continuously increase a persons energy? Crystals can be used as tools to direct energy, but why would one only use them to direct their personal energy rather than tapping into the vast supply that is around us? If I want to water my flowers, I don't spit into a hose---I use the hose and tap into my water supply. I use the hose to direct the water to the flowers. There is a large supply of water and anyone can tap into it and direct it to accomplish their needs. The hose and water are neutral and do not care if they are used for reasons that we may feel are positive or negative.
....now I need to check to see if my garden needs watering :^)

Question for you to answer - what do you mean by "power" and "negative energy" ?
Power must travel from one point to another - how?
How do you measure it?
What is its function?
What are it's conversion products?
How do you quantify it?

I suspect that neither you nor anypody else can give a proper answer to this. Remember, if the results cannot be reproduced, it probably does not exist. It reminds me of old time sci-fi writers following an early view that there was an "ether" in space, however, nobody could ever define it, let alone measure it and it gradually became realised that it was a complete mistake and there was no such thing.

Also worth considering that thinking neither absorbs nor creates power and, sufficient "power" to traverse the distance between myself and yourself would instantly fry the brain cells.

There is a difference between energy and power. Energy is how much you have to work with, power is how much you are physically able to handle. That is, your carrying capacity. To increase your power: Stay away from addictive substances, caffein, alcohol and tobacco. These block energy centers, and also can give you false impressions of energy levels. Stay away also from non-organic, non-free-range meat. Animals raised in unpleasant environments with alot of chemicals and bad experiences in their short life build up alot of negative energy which transfers to you through eating it. Finally, get plenty of exercise. Working out in general builds up your energy and expands your carrying capacity for it.

You can generate large quantities of energy through drumming, chanting, dancing, singing, masturbation and intercourse and various disciplines, Shamanic, Eastern, etc. Of course, you can't walk around with all this energy, you wouldn't be able to function in the real world, but you can use it for magical work. Keeping your body healthy not only increases the amount of energy you can walk around with, but also the amount of energy you can raise during magical working. Studying the disciplines you mentioned can also do this, as well as enhancing your awareness of the energy, and your ability to control and direct it.
