I have to attend a dinner given in the honor of French Ambassador and councel general to Pakistan and their wives. i want to know what is the correct way to greet them and how to dress properly for the occassion.

You call an Ambassador "Your Excellency", but unless he is overly pompous he will then say what his given name is.

You'd call his wife "Madam (Surname)"

Dress as smartly as you can and still be comfortable. It will help your self-confidence if you avoid clothes that make you sweat. Err on the side of modesty - no plunging necklines or miniskirts for women, shirt and tie at the very least for men. No jeans for anyone!

I agree with the above answer but also I would avoid high heels and be sure your shoes won't let you down! Same thing for the clothing, I would make sure the buttons will hold on etc ;-)

If you are to give a handshake, be sure it's a nice firm one for men but softer one for women (unless their seems strong).
