Fainting is a typical feature of "petit mal" epilepsy or "absence seizure" epilepsy. Here, there are no violent movements like the way seen in grand mal or tonic clonic type. Pt just remains immobile as if he is staring at something for sometime and then collapses on the ground. There may or maynot be any aura. If it is of temporal lobe in origin, then patient may experience some funny smell before the onset of epiplpsy.
In normal fainting, there is reduction of blood supply to the brain. Hence patient feels giddy and blackout.

After the patient recovers from an epilepsy fainting, they're usually very, very tired...feel very sleepy and lethargic, usually have a headache and can't remember what happened to cause the fainting. Normal fainting can have these signs too but they're very mild, the person will wake up feeling a bit dazed and confused, but usually will be alright in a few hours while the epileptic one can recover after a day or so.

Epilepsy is not just fainting, and it is a disorder. Epilepsy is a specific nervous system condition, and you can have muscle spasms when you have a seizure. Fainting is a general loss of consciousness because there isn't enough blood getting to your brain.

epilepsy is a seisure disorder ranging in mild to severe. fainting is not enough blood flow to the brain i.e. standing to quickly, bending down and lifting head quickly etc... most epileptics take anti sesiure medicine.

having an epileptic seizure is whats called a gran-mal and it,s cause is a mixed signal in the brain (usually the temporal lobe region) causing spasms while fainting is caused from a lack of oxygen to the brain .
