Tokay has several meanings:
Originally, it was the Anglicized name for the famed wines of the Tokaj-Hegyalja region in Hungary and part of former Hungarian Empire (in Slovakia).
Later it came to be used to refer to wine produced from Muscadelle. In Australia and elsewhere, a style something like that of Tokaji is called liqueur Tokay.
