Sometimes you can blackout but it's rare. For me, it depends on what I drink. Certain types of liquors can make me black out, and that is why I avoid those. For some people they black out all the time and some people never black out. How much you've had to drink plays a role too, especially if you are a younger or inexperienced drinker. The more you drink, the more likely you can black out. I think if you were to ask a bunch of drinkers, most would say that they have experienced this before but not often.
Even if it did happen and your friend did black out, that is still no excuse for that type of behavior. She still needs to be responsible for her actions. If she does drink so much that she blacks out and hurts other people, then she needs to not drink or not drink so much. Her act of drinking so much that she found herself in this state is her fault, even if she "didn't know what she was doing". Bottom line here, she is still responsible for her actions. If she killed someone, they would still throw her in jail, right? You cannot use being too drunk as a defense in court.

Sometimes people do not know what theyre doing when they are drunk. It is not an alibi, you can actually black out and have no idea what you are doing. The next day you might wake up and completely forget what happened the night before. It also depends how drunk she was. Im pretty sure she did not do it on purpose, she was drunk and lost her inhibitions it happends to people all the time

I used to drink to much but not anymore .
The reason being i could not always remember what had happened the day before ,I used to find this very embarrassing. It is not very healthy to drink to excess
anyway So now I am a little healthier and I am no longer
embarrassed by my previous days activity's.

It is a cheap alibi. You would have to be pretty close to alcohol poisoning to forget anything and you would wish you were dead the next day. It just is not worth it.

Taken from "the scotsman" newspaper.
http://news.scotsman.com/health.cfm?id=1211822003
"AN INCREASING number of young women are waking up after a heavy night of drinking with virtually no memory of the night before, new research has revealed.
More women appear to be drinking their recommended alcohol intake in a matter of hours rather than spread over a week, according to a survey by Company magazine.
It found that 66 per cent of women admitted to waking up in the morning after a night out on the town with almost no recollection of their revels - up from 42 per cent when the same question was asked two years ago.
The problem of binge-drinking was also apparent, with 60 per cent of women admitting to drinking the majority of their 21 units in one or two weekend sessions rather than during the course of a week.
The 2003 Freedom Years survey also found that 29 per cent of women said they had lost keys, money and other valuables during a drunken night out - up from 20 per cent in 2001.
Getting home was also a problem, with 50 per cent admitting they had no idea how they got back - up from 33 per cent in 2001"
I hope that answers your question, it appears that there is a general trend of memory loss in more than half of all women who drink heavily.
And ahahaha.

If you drink alot, and your blood alcohol level (BAC) recahes or exceeds .200, you can "black out" and not remember what you did. However, most people that get drunk simply choose to forget what they did so they have an excuse to be ignorant.

Drinking too much lowers blood sugar. If blood sugar levels get too low, hypoglycemia sets in. People go nuts and don't remember a thing about it after wards. The same things happens to diabetics when they take their meds but don't eat enough to balance their blood sugar levels.
So yes, it happens, and is generally referred to (among drinkers) as being "blacked out".
Tell you friend not to drink so much, and if she does, get some food in her.

If don't remembering is her excuse, it won't fly with me. And congratulations for not drinking. A drink or two is OK, but getting drunk isn't cool. It is stupid.
