He basically communicates to me via text message and I hate that. Yes text messaging is great, but I don't want a relationship based on text msgs. I want phone calls where I can hear his voice. This is really making me think twice about being with him. What should I do?

Have you talked to him about this? A lot depends on his reasons for not talking on the phone - if he has a legit reason why he can't or why its a hardship, I think you should not be mad at him. On the other hand, if he's just lazy, isn't willing to take the time to give you the attention, or is just messaging you when its convenient for him, then I'd say you have every right to be upset.
Find out why - no pun intended, but you need to open the lines to better communication if you are going to have a relationship (and I'm not referring to *how* you communicate, I'm referring to how *well* you communicate).

I'm in the same situation & we've only been dating a month too. Although I would prefer to hear his voice & he does call me (not as often as I would like!) but the msgs are cute & they always make my day. He lives far away & I don't get to see him often so when I miss him I just read his msgs again & they make me smile. If it bugs you that much let him know - it's like anything else in a relationship...communication is so important.

Text him back and tell himyou want to talk and then don't answer any more of the text messages.. he will get the hint.. if he don't want to talk then dump him he isn't worth your time.. verbal communication is the most important in a relationship next to honesty and trust.

tell him how u feel, but in a gentle way as confrontation will get u nowhere. meanwhile, keep urself busy by getting in touch with family or friends u might have neglected during this period of time. a mth of relationship is too short, my dear, treat him something more than a friend at this point of time and see if he is suitable for u.

I hate that! You need to tell him. It might be he's just shy on the phone or doesn't know what to say. If he doesn't change then break up with him.

ask him to call u. Did u ask him why he is texting u? the reasons I can think of are
1.texting gives him more time to think of the right wording
2.he is with someone else so it's inconvenient to call u
Talk to him about it.
