well you are partially right many followers of all religions, including Muslims, haven't studied their religion thoroughly or at all. They usually just follow whatever their parents and community do w/o question. This leads to corruption of the faith and less and less can actually practice their faith, rather they practice their culture with a pinch of religion. Each person and community is responsible to try to fight that phenomenon if they believe theri religion is of value. I dont any religion is doing that much better, mankind in general is going downhill. As for terrorists, there areplenty to go around, much is state sponsored terrorism by so-called Christian or Jewish based countries. Catholics have a bloody history in Northern Ireland ...But it all depends on how you wish to interpret things. Violence is spread among all ethnic and religious groups.
You must be a credit to your religion in that you are very aware of what others do which is against their religion, presumably you on the other hand are being very observant, and equally vigilant of following whatever your faith is. I'm sorry you seem disgruntled about others successes. This sometimes leads to lashing out at others that symbolize your feelings of failure. I hpe things get better for you soon. Chin up.

i will suppose that you really want to understand and not just welling to insult us like the majority of people here. Quran translation now is available in all languages of the world, both printed and on the internet. It is mandatory on each muslim to study Quran. Unfortunately, many do not and those who might become extreemists becaus of their ignorance of the peaceful and merciful meanings of Quran. On the other hand, are you saying that there is no bad people within the millions of Catholics around the world??

the problem is here:

Islam is beling fighted externally and internally; externally through the western forces and their media, and internally through governements in the middle east who try in a way to control or stop scientists and islamic organizations from spreading in the society... because if they did the whole society will realize we have bad governments and will force a change.

so the media is used to distort the nation, and the government is arresting good muslims who attend lectures in mosques, so parents generally say "walk beside the wall" which means: walk beside the wall or else the car will push you.

so imagine it like this: you have some food in your house(that you have been used to eat, means: usual flavor), and you know there is a nice mango tree on the other side of the street, but a dog is hanged in the mange tree, and your parents accept you go to anywere else, but not to this mango tree.... will you ever go to the tree?

food = normal dayly life.
mango tree = mosques and lecturers.
dog = the police that might arrest you.

this example was regarding people who want to be religios (so it is a challange to go to mosque)... since the culture says its enough to pray in home (wrong culture!)... more over those lecturers and scientists are annoyed by the governments here, so when the number of people attending for a certain lecturer grows they tend to stop him... thus when some famous lecturers appeared on a completly islam channel, it was fastly stopped... but Alhamdullilah the same people are appearing now on other channel (great thing!), they have managed to reach homes, not only mosques, and insha'allah they people will grow more religious.

another kind of people, are people who was not grown in a good islamic culture (i mean in homes), so their parents tend to be western style as their friends in schoos (are british or american schools, generally)... those people do look to islamists (people who are religiously committed) from another angle, sometimes from a positive side and othertimes from a negative side. because those people used to live a bit more like western societies, so they didn't have someone to guide them this is good and this is bad, so when see religious muslims, they think those people is living in a prison (thus he don't want it), some others look from a positive side; they want to become good muslims, but they haven't learned Arabic enough... so they don't even read Qur'an.

so people in the middle east who are the best people for understanding Qur'an (because Arabic) they tend to be away from mosques, and the person must pass some barriers and challange himself... this happens only when Allah wants good from a certain person!

so what about muslims in turkey, pakistan, india... or anyway else? they hardly understand Qur'an, and they tend to imitate other muslims which is wrong, because they have learned some wrong things.

anyway hope the nation will return to islam and practice it.

The question you asked is not really a question at all and it looks more of a statement than anything else. I hope this won't turn out bad since Islam is already being percieved negatively and many of the people giving comments of the faith have no intellectual authority. Hopefully my two-cents would help ease the situation here (I don't normally post replies but this question just caught my attention).

One needs to understand what Islam is really about and being objective is a must of one really wishes to understand any religion. Please keep this in mind.

The religion Islam was brought down as a guidance to save men from eternal damnation. The message that it brings are of peace but one must understand the time and place where this religion was sent down were filled with people who believed in aggression more than anything. Tribal wars constantly occured and many other faith at the time were either pagan in origin or have gone astray from its original intention.

Thus war was inevetible for the muslims. But the war was regulated by divine laws. There were things that Islam condems and things that Islam allows to be done during wars. Whether or not it is followed by the muslims is something else. Therefore one must view Islam as it is and not how it is being practiced by its followers. This goes for Christianity, Judaism, and any other religion as a matter of fact.

Coming back on track..The religion itself is known to be universal in nature. Meaning that all its teachings applies at any point of time for any type of people. In other words there is no time constraints and is not specific for any race bound by geographical definitions. Its for all mankind.

This includes literate and illiterate men. There is a transmission by the followers of Muhammad that once there was a bedouin (Nomads that move from water-hole to water-hole. They are mostly illiterate.) man that came to Muhammad asking about the religion. Muhammad gave a very simple code of conduct to follow that is to believe in God and do good (or something to that effect). Many of his other followers inquired why he preeched to the bedouin differently compared to what he had told them. Muhammad said this religion is for all mankind and there are levels of faith according to individuals and his nature. God is always Just. (or something to that effect).

This explains why some muslims are unable to read the Quran while others have the ability to memorise the whole Quran by heart. Each individual will be judged accordingly. One cannot claim that one religion is meant for certain type of people only and not others. This is truly unfair and selfish and unless one believes that God is unfair, there will be no such religion.

Terrorist, extremist, militants, these are all men with different ideas of the faith they submit too and should not be the sample from where people judge Islam. This is also unfair by any humane standards.

I hope this helps and if it does not, just disregard this post. Dont forget to smile!

Okay, let me start by saying I am a practising Christian. I have lived in two Muslim countries for the last eight years. Except for the very poor, most children are educated in their religion. Except for the poor, children learn to read. In fact today, I am sending $100 worth of paper and pencils to the east of Turkey so that children can go to school. In the West, people take any education for granted. We are blessed.
Have you considered how many so-called Christian hardly ever go to church? How many of them have read the Bible cover to cover? I had several times before I was 13 because I wanted to know and understand my religion. How many times have you read the Bible? And, yes, I was in a religious class for some time before I dedicated my life to Christ.
Also take a bit of a gander at history. As just one for instance --In the name of God, the Crusaders looted and killed and raped across Europe and Asia. Do your research. How many other countries and groups have committed murder and mayhem and justified it because "God is on our side"? The only side God is on is that of your soul.

To all my Muslim brothers and sisters online here. I think the best solution to the hated question being repeated posted here is just to be patient and be tolerance. Dun get upset about their comments. We know it ourselves that Islam is not about violence. Just ignore these fools and let us go about doing other things tat are more important than trying to convince these people about our religion. We cannot change them if they would not want to change themselves.

Just pray to Him for guidance. Ramadhan is around the corner, pray to Him for the safety of other Muslims and also to the other people from diff races and religion. And pray for peace. Those radical muslims will get their retribution here or the life-after. All we can do is pray. And hope for the best.

Amin!

Those are the ones we call docile muslims, i am a muslim not an arab neither am i english/american, i can read the Quran as for understanding it has been translated into many languages english inclusive. A s for the Bible it was not originally in English, how many christians can boast of seeing the bible in its original un-adulterated version, how many learned christians can read and understand the bible in its original language?

Agreed Bible is in english now can easily be read and understood that is why we are seeing gay priests and same sex marriages in the church today. I just finished reading one now and look what i have found, it is self explanatory and clearly understood.

Song of Solomon 8:1-3 "If only you were to me like a brother, who was nursed at my mother's breasts! Then, if I found you outside, I would kiss you, and no one would despise me. I would lead you and bring you to my mother's house-- she who has taught me. I would give you spiced wine to drink [i.e., her vagina's semen!], the nectar of my pomegranates. His left arm is under my head and his right arm embraces me."

thats not true. All muslims are praying and all prayers are in Arabic. At least they start to learn prayers then they get interest to understand what they are saying....So as a result they learn arabic even

Christians speak mostly their native language and english, is that all? Correct?

A person I was talking to, once gallantly proclaimed, 'My Brother, if what you are saying is right, then why is Islam the fastest growing religion in the world?' he paused, I looked at him, he looked at me, it looked like checkmate, 'Aren't people finally seeing the truth?'

I allowed this person to savour the fact that he had outwitted an 'Infidel', before I answered his question.

'Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world.' I paused, he smiled triumphantly, 'However, how is Islam becoming the fastest growing religion in the world? How is Islam becoming the fastest growing religion in the world?'

His smile brightened, 'Because they are seeing the truth.'

'perhaps,' I said, but have you also thought of the fact that Muslims are encouraged against contraceptive methods and abortion. Muslim men are told that their wives are subservient to them... It is a duty of a muslim wife to submit to her husband when he wills, is it not?'

'Of course it is.'

'Well then that gives you one reason. Muslim men cannot control their desires, they don't use contraception and they are very careless.'

'Yes, but Allah has said that we should be fruitful and multiply'

'I know. But I certainly don't think that Allah meant for you to jeopardize yourself by haveing more children that you can handle.'

He was silent.

'So we have one factor... No control over the natality rate. Most of these children see wisdom when they grow older and hence do not follow the religion and some strictly don't beleive in the religion... But very few, if at all will go to the extent of changing their status... They are Muslims... But only on paper.'

His smile was fading.

'Then think of the number of women who are forced to convert to islam so that they can marry the men they love. Most often, neither the man nor the woman are believers... The problem was their parents... So here we have more muslims who don't give a **** about islam but are still muslims to maintain face or because they simply cannot be bothered changing it. These people then produce more people, who are in effect, 'non-muslim muslims''

His smile had faded.

'Think about the amount of muslim men who due to their inability to control themselves and their insatiable sexual apetite. Think about the number of illegitimate children they have... So often with non-muslim women. According to the law, the islamic sharia, is it not true that the child is a muslim if the father is?'

'Yes, of course.'

'Right... So there you have it. Another cause for the fast growth of islam... These children are rarely ever cared for by the father... So it is the illegitimate non muslim mother who brings up a muslim child... Or the child is given up for adoption.'

The person tried to interupt.

'I;m not done. You need to think about the number of people who convert for convenience... Women who are lured by the proclamation that islamic men and women are equal... That's real bullshit, because even though the quran preaches it, it contradicts itself. Think about the workers in the middle east... They convert so they become eligible for promotion or better paying jobs.'

He was silent. Not even a hint of a smile lingered on his face.

'Finally, think about the number of people who are brain washed into converting. Forced into converting due to the establishment of new regimes... The poverty stricken people of whom the terrorists take advantage of. They convert so they can live. The amount of people who convert to become clergy so they do not have to earn a living...'

He came up with lame explanations... But I had won the debate.

*

I hope what I have said was of some help... Is it any wonder that there are so many who cannot read and understand the quran... Is Islam the fastest growing religion in the world, really?
