If the bible is said to be true then doesnt that mean that, since we are all descended from Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel, that we are all inbred? How come we are not crawling on the floor full of cancer with massive birth defects? Same for all the animals. Why arent they all falling apart due to inbreeding?

We see in certain animals, such as breeds of dogs that they have certain problems.

But the genes would have been perfect to start with. There wouldn't have been any DNA defects in the beginning. So a large population base was developed relatively free from defects. By Moses' time, incest was against the law; I'm sure because of this possibility of defects. There must be more good DNA out there than bad.

Remember people lived over 900 years in past times. Now we live around 80 years.

Many of us wear glasses or have some other problems we figure are from bad genes from our parents, but I'm thinking the bad genes could come from all coming from the same genepool. Also, Adam and Eve had many kids, not just Cain and Abel, Cain and Able are specifically mentioned because they are the first murderer and victim. Adam and Eve had kids before they got kicked out of Eden, and after. We don't even know how long they lived before getting kicked out, since before that they were immortal. For all we know they could have been reproducing for 1,000 years before they got kicked out.

We are far from being perfect.
But it's not due to the marriages between close relatives that had to happen before God outlawed that.

Humans were physically perfect in the beginning.
They lived for hundreds of years because of that.
Since they were genetically closer to perfection than we are, marriage between close relatives didn't have a effect for a long time.
In time, God outlawed it for the Jews because it soon would.
