There are far too many to list here. To get a comprehensive list you would have to Google each vitamin. The B-complex alone contains over a dozen components, and taking only one (say, B-12) creates a deficiency of the others since they work together.
Many vitamin and mineral deficiencies do not show up for years. For instance, a deficiency of calcium might not be apparent until you experience osteoporosis later in life. Many vitamins support brain and nervous system functions and others promote heart health - you might not be aware of deficiencies of these for a long time, if at all...but you will not be enjoying optimum health.
Vitamin C is a good example. It's an antioxidant and immune system booster. The RDA is enough to prevent deficiency diseases like scurvy but it's not an optimum dose. 1000 mg. a day will prevent most colds and flu.
Most of us don't eat enough of a variety of foods to enjoy optimum health. That's why vitamin supplements are important!

i had a calcium, vitamin d, and b-12 deficiency and I felt very tired . I had no energy when I would excersise. Also I felt very absent minded all the time.I started taking those and I felt alot better. Most multivitams like centrum only give you a minimal amount of important vitamins, so its a good idea to buy them as seperate supplements.

Lack of Vit C: scurvies
Lack of Vit B: this disease called beriberi where your leg swollens up real big
Lack of Vit A: eye problems
Antioxidants (vit A, C, E) fights off free radicals (pollutants and other wild chemicals that oxidise) in the body. Antioxidants are important because they keep you young and full of energy, and they're also good for your skin, hair, and nails. Not consuming them can heighten your chances of catching cancer.
