mama sid, "clean your plate cause people are starving".cant e-coli spinach be boiled & safely consumed? seems like such a waste!

You can freeze spinach by boiling it rapidly for a couple of minutes then putting it into cold water. then freeze it this process is called blanching.

You could compost it if there is some left on your plate.

Boiling can kill E-coli. But every surface it touched while raw, including your hands would need to be disinfected because of the posibility of cross contamination.

E-coli is pretty virulent and if not killed will simply be spread through the kitchen. The sponge or rag you use to clean the kitchen should be discarded afterwards or it will retain the E-coli bacteria spreading it to every other surface you "clean" with it.

So it easier to say that it should be disposed of. It shouldn't even be used for mulch for risk of contamination and breeding E-coli there.

Took mine back to the grocery store and they gave my money back.
I would be afraid to eat it boiled or not. Personally I like it as a salad.
