Depends on what you're looking for. You will still be able to find info as most was backed up. If it is for a grandfather or somebody like that, they should still have their separation papers. This will have their medals and such. I'll include the link to follow up on records, but be prepared to prove your relationship and your need for the records. I was able to get both my father's and grandfathers records from WWII and Vietnam.

You may have a tough time with this one. In 1972 there was a fire in St.Louis, MO. in the building military records were stored.
Some records are completely lost.
