Is this a common misconception or do Americans really like the English accent?
Is it the swarve posh ascent of someone like Hugh Grant or just the common everyday accent of the general public?

As being English myself, any info would be great

Cheers

English accents and dialects vary more widely within Great Britain than they do in other parts of the world.

There is great variation among accents of English spoken in the United States; accents are perhaps more variable in the U.S. than in any other English-speaking country besides the United Kingdom. In terms of phonology, flapping may be the only process common to all accents of American English: not all American English accents are rhotic, not all use the "flat A" in words like half and can't, not all have lost the phonemic differentiation between the vowels of father and bother or the vowels of cot and caught or the consonants of wine and whine, and so forth.

Yes Americans think British accents are all the rage. Women as far as I know are attracted to posh, suave Londoner type accents.

yes americans love the English accent, I happen to have the ability to mimic other accents pretty well, and people, women especially love it when I talk with an English or Aussie accent

english accents dont do much for me, hugh grant either seeing as we are both blokes. but the americans love any accent not their own. i guess its because we speak and not drawl our words out. talk fast to them and watch their heads explode, quite funny if your in the mood
