Did you install the right driver for your model? I have an epson printer also with drivers that came only from epson.com and it works fine. Check your settings the default printer in your office is MIcrosoft Image Writer.

Try & see whether ur printer is a true plug-and-play device as u can use either standard or plug-and-play installation procedures to install once the printer is detected when it is connected to ur PC with or without the installation CD.

Select "Install from a list of specific location" and proceed further.

I had also trouble to install the driver of my epsonprinter... I did not know why, because I had the right driver.
Then at whits' end I just tried printing at it worked... Some computerexpert told me later XP sometimes finds the hardware, and it works automatically... (without installing anything). Just try to print... you'll never know...
