In MS Word, how can I keep text or a paragraph together, not separated over two pages? (i.e. what is the term for this process recognised in Help?)

In OpenOffice it's format > paragraph > text flow - check "do not split paragraph". I suggest you look in a similar location in MS Word.

Having looked again at Works word processor I offer the following advice. If you have a subheading that you want to be on page - insert a page break just before it. That will mean that you will you start your new section on a new page - and that should keep what you want together. If you are concerned about odd lines spilling over on to the next page - I offer the following solutions. First of all you could simply alter your page size to bring in the extra line. The second solution is to increase the gaps between the paragraphs, This will have the effect of moving all the text further down the pages. Hope that helps.

You got a great answer there!!

Keep in mind also: At the end of a page, unless you do what the earlier poster suggests, that a paragraph will split only if what's continuing onto the second page is at least two lines.

If you want the whole paragraph to go onto the second page, you can insert a page break at the end of the previous paragraph. The page break will force the entire next paragraph to be on the second page.

If it's a matter of a line or two, you could also adjust your margins a bit to help the material fit on one sheet.
