Remember seeing a colour on a website may look completely different once you have it in your hands.
If at all possible Shop at a brick and mortor building where you intend to purchase your wedding supplies, this way you know exactly what you are buying and you have seen it first hand.
When I went with silk flowers I went to the Home Depot and looked there, you can as well check out your local Home Improvements Warehouses. Here in Kentucky there is a place called Carolina Pottery and it has EVERY THING!! I bought Silk Tiger Lilies and it was beautiful. I wasnted something red as red is the normal for flowers at a wedding but I didnt want to have roses, I wanted to be different.
Some things are safe to buy off the net, other things you need to shop for.. look at, feel, compare next to other colours to make sure this is what you want. Not all website store have brick and mortor stores where you can return something if it doesnt work.

Save coupons for AC Moore or Michaels craft stores if you have them nearby. If you do, you can also sign up online at www.acmoore.com and they will email you a coupon link every week. It's for 40% off any regularly priced item. Then, you can go to either AC Moore or Michaels (they accept each other's coupons) and buy the white bows. They sell them maybe 10 or 12 to a box. They're quite lovely.

Also, red silk roses are priced best at valentine's day at the craft store. If your wedding is after 2/14/07 then I would suggest waiting and getting them at a craft store during early Feb. They usually go on sale for 50% off.

There's a bow maker on the market that costs about $10.
Making a ton of bows can really cramp your hands, and if you aren't experienced, holding all that ribbon can be quite cumbersome. Making your own bows will save you alot of money and the bowmaker will be the best $10 you ever spent.

Hobby Lobby is your best bet for ribbon and flowers if you have a local one. If you need to order online, try save on crafts (source one is link to their floral page). Try ebay for some pew bows. Just make sure you buy all you need at the same time so the ribbon will match. Good Luck! Have lots of fun planning!

Go to your local craft stores. Michaels, Jo-Anne Fabrics, places like that. Otherwise there are a lot of stores online (theknot.com, weddingthings.com). I purchased a majority of my stuff from the craft stores I listed above. I think the theme of my wedding turned into ribbons. But other ideas are: I purchased wood fans from the knot and water bottles for favors at the ceremony. My ceremony was outdoors and it was hot! And for a cheep reception favor, I purchased Hershey Chocolate bars and put tin foil over the wrapper and designed my own wrapper. I had our married name on the front with a picture and on the back, cute fun facts set up like the nutrition facts, our first date, when we first met, when we got engaged, and our marriage date. A list of ingredients was added to that. It might feel like a lot of work, but I saved myself over $300 in the mean time. I first wanted to buy white boxes, jordan almonds, and ribbons to go on top.

I know you said you're on a budget. Go to a bookstore and buy the book "How to have a big Wedding on a small budget." It's about 16 bucks and it is REALLY useful. I'm using it for my upcoming wedding.

Most hobby stores will work and you can see the flowers before you purchase so that you can be as picky as you like.

There are also numerous online stores with beautiful flowers, but you cant pick and choose that way (though depending on where you live that might be you best option)

Hobby Lobby and I promise that they will look like real roses.
They also have tons of white ribbon for bows and anything else related to bows that you can name.
