You need to take back who's in charge in your household, because right now it's the dog. Do you have a dog crate? If so, offensive behavior should result in being placed in the crate. If not, put a leash on the animal and tie it to a heavy piece of furniture. Then walk out of the room for 5 minutes and ignore any noise that the dog makes. Come back, and release with no praise. It's like a time out for a child. Begging is a natural habit for pets, the best way I have found to correct the problem is to a) ignore the begging pet completely, b) push the dog away and tell him in a firm voice "no begging". you will have to do this repeatedly until they understand what you're saying. When you eat, put both dogs in another room and make sure that they stay there not matter what noise they start to make, ignore them. When you're done with your meal, again, release with no praise. You're simply trying to teach them how to behave.
You must remember, they're pets, not children, so treat them accordingly and stop spoiling them so much. I love my dogs too, but I make sure they understand who's the boss in the house. You need to do the same thing. Good luck.

We always feed our dog at the same time that we are having our meal. We have two cats and one dog and they all beg when there is chicken or fish in the kitchen. I think it may be an idea to put the troublesome dog in another room at meal times or just do as we do and ignore him completely while we eat. We still get the occasional whine, but on the whole our dog is learning slowly but surely.

When he starts in, hold his month shout. Tell him NO! Be farm demand he be quit. Make sure to look him in the eyes when you tell him NO! It will help let him know you mean business
Keep with it, that is what we did for our huschski and he no longer begs. Even if we hand meant just out of his reach. He just sits and watchs for the ok.

I have read that you should always feed the dog after yourself, and in a different room. We stopped our dog from begging by sending him to bed during our mealtimes. We sometimes give him treats but only when hes in his bed. This way he learns that he will only get fed when he's in bed, not begging.

That`s funny. My cat does that too. We taught her how to beg for her soft food.
Now she does it alll the time. In the morning, when I come home from work, at night.
CONSTANTLTY!!!
But; actually I think it`s cute and sometimes will give in to her, because she does her trick so-o well.
She even does it when I have company over, because they like to watch Simby, then feed her. She knows that!!!
Smart cat.
I think it`s mean to say NO!! to your dog alllll the time.
I mean we have to say no, when they jump up on us or other people.
We say no for them not to bite, even when they are playing.
We say no when they are barking at our company.
So we say no enough. Let him beg.

I have one that will sniff crumbs out of te seams of your clothes. We constantly have to tell him to go lay down. We don't reward him for begging he never gets food when he is in our face. Well last night he was eating and I stuck my face in there. I figure Im going to start sticking my nose in his face while he is eating see if he likes it.
