It is a breach of your rights under the Human Rights Act and under the European convention of Human Rights. you have the right to peaceful enjoyment of you personal property. But in practice the government do what the hell they like and if you don't stand up to the dictatorial attitude of the present government - they will continue to do so. The last last time people said NO was the poll tax riots and won. The miners lost. We are now dependant on oil and sponser terrorism every time we buy oil. Thatcher, governed as a dictator and got away with it - and new labour have done the same. But with lots of spin about doing the right thing. Flash new hospitals with not enough doctors. Flash new logos. Flash new websites. Flash new spin. No substance and no real rights. They change social servcies to "social inclusion and health" and close old folks homes. They change Social security to Work and pensions and torment a guy who was ill for playing golf - repeatedly putting him on TV and calling him a cheat. Now they are going to have "work related" interviews for sick people. Will the Ministers be required to attend - they are really sick with their Welfare Reform Bill, 84 pages long and 137 references to the word "work". What next for the old and sick raise the retirement age, food stamps - may as well bring back the work house. 10p on petrol and they could scrap the silly tax on motor bikes and cars. But it's jobs for the babes at the DVLA. Teflon Tones babes have to have nice soft jobs, in nice warm offices - taking tax off suckers like you.

well, sometimes people think that they can get away with not paying a tax or a bill - and the only way to get through to them is to scare them into paying it.
I guess I would wonder who was paying for the radio ad - and what specifically the law says about people who fail to pay their road tax.
It might well be that they are allowed to impound and destroy a persons motorcylce if they fail to pay their road tax.
As for whether or not it is appropriate to use scare tactics - well, if motorcycle owners paid their road tax - then it wouldn't be an issue. So maybe the fault should lay with the motorcycle owners who aren't paying their road tax - and causing the government to resort to hardball scare tactics.

In theory, the government in the UK can decide that anyone who buys a box of tissues on wednesdays is a criminal and send the police to lock them up.
With the average briton being caught on camera more than 30 times a day and every traffic camera now recording the number plate of every car that passes (also probably logging pictures of tax disk plus occupant), there is no escape.
Arn't computers wonderful? George Orwell probably had no idea how the real "1984" would turn out to be in reality!

Why don't you just pay the tax then this statement wouldn't make you pee your pants or even think about it because you'd have nothing to fear. This statement issued on behalf of all those law-abiding people who are responsible enough to pay road tax, insurance, and MOT fees.
To all other parasites, they ARE coming to get you and your car will be crushed.

Pay your taxes and you don't have a problem. If you don't pay what you owe then you are a parasite.
