John W: did u ever wonder why their are so many homosexual priests? could it be in an effort to deny their "perversion" they entered the priesthood hoping that they could suppress their sinfulness in celibacy?
So, your approach would likely have the opposite of the intended effect

A priest has to start as soon he has left the theological college, or after his vocation like all before him for hundreds of years.
Having been through all the SEX in their lives, though supposed to be CELIBATE, how can those that are higher up condemn the juniors?
History has kept on repeating itself, and will continue do to so. In the olden days the head of the local church was god, his word was law, no one could question his integrity and those who did so were burnt at the stake as heretics. Who would believe a child who had been abused and incur the wrath of the priest?
As the society moved from the middle ages to present day, people began believing their children and to fight for them, knowing well the priests had no special powers and they did not actually represent god, only gave guidance on the ways of the God, and thus approached the law.
NOW THE QUESTION, WHO WILL ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM, WHICH MEMBER OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, WHO IS CLEAN?

One misspelled word. It's celibacy, and it is NOT the cause of abuse by priests. Approx 95% of the abuse cases involve male victims, so the real word that you can hopefully spell correctly is homosexuality. It is deviant and it is morally wrong. The root causes that facilitated the abuse are (1) failures of seminaries to weed these offenders out early and (2) failures by Church bureaucracy to aggressively deal with those rightfully accused. If the issue was just celibacy, then there would be a much higher incidence of abuse of females. The offenders are gay and we're too politically correct in this country to offend the delicate sensibilities of gays by saying that they are deviant perverts.
