ID folks are always claiming (mostly in school board meetings) that their so-called theory's designer is not necessarily God.
Raelianists believe in ID. They just think the "designer" is a group of space aliens.

I'm a young earth creationist and unfortunately they are Christians that are trying to get certain beliefs accepted/taught and try lawyer tactics to do it.
Most ID folks are promoting a form of evolution where they answer the evolutionist question of how did the first spark of life occur with God. I believe this is a disservice to God, as He created the world out of nothing as Genesis states. Sin is what caused death to occur, and so evolution could not be fact since that would require much death before sin. This is just a very brief summary. the idea of us being designed or created by space aliens rather than God just adds another loop to the debate
ie - who created the aliens?
it doesn't nullify the possibility of there being a creator God who started it all off in the first place
otherwise we get to the point of getting something out of nothing - something scientists still haven't been able to prove
