Wrap it up, take it to the Post Office, UPS, or some other mail agency, pay the shipping, say "goodbye" to it, and then wait to hear the thanks from the person you sent it to.
Owl is right. If you are shipping something like wine, it's better to have the company send it.

There is plenty of wine from all over the world, including fromCalifornia available in Germany at prices competitive with European wines. So why would you send it?

It is best to ask the wine producer or the retailer to do this. Packages with dutiable contents are much more readily accepted from a company than from a private individual. They will also have the proper packaging material (which must, of course, keep the bottle from being broken in transit!)
If you HAVE to send it yourself, contact USPS and ask for full details, including recommendations for packing. They should be able to advise you. Their website gives limited information but will give you contact information.
