What on earth makes you think that pets are a problem? Left to their own devices, pets don't cause any trouble you can't find in natural occurrence. It's the owners who train or mistreat/abuse their pets who are the problem. Get rid of the human element, all you find are animals trying to survive the way they have for thousands (in some cases millions) of years.

I agree with Sungs. & Larry. One has nothing to do with the other the way you make the comparrison.
Also Larry makes an excellent point. Scientific studies have shown that owning a pet can lower the negative effects of stress

Absolutely NOT. In fact without them the worlds problems would increase dramatically. It has been confirmed that having a pet in the house actually reduces stress levels, so getting rid of the pets will only increase stress levels thus ADD to the problems in the world as a whole.

No, the world's problems would be halved by getting rid of half of the human population.

Not that I'd suggest killing 3 billion people, since that would cause another problem...

What are you crazy? There something called a food chain boy, killing off one animal could kill of a whole ecosystoim. And when one fall others will soon fallow. If we got rid of them the word would fall apart and whatever problems we have now would look like the good old days when thing were simple!

Huh? Is this some warped PETA question? I hope this is a troll. If not, I'd like to hear the warped logic behind this question.

If anything having pets makes people more responsible and compassionate

Dogs and cats don't have anything to do with world problems. Why do you ask such a silly question, you wasted 5 points.

Animals just go along for the ride; humans decide which direction and what happens at the end of the ride

You may have a point , pets and animals lower peoples blood pressures and makes them calmer. If we didn't have animals more people would lose control and take out each other , reducing the population and creating less problems.
