Hi, my faith has been shaken to the core because here was I thinking that the Pope was infallible. Of course he should never have insulted that religion of peace ( Islam) but what was God's purpose in making him say this, then apologise for it?

Could it be that the pope is JUST A MAN after all, although dressed up in gold and velvet robes??

As the pope is chosen by God (and not by the other jokers voting for who should be pope) one has to assume that God -in his infinite wisdom- decided to joke with him and make him say different things for the sole benefit and amusement of God.
My answer is that God made him say this just because he wanted a good laugh.

The Pope is only considered infallible when he proclaims Catholic Doctrine.

One the subject of Islam: He said nothing wrong and only quoted a 14th Century emperor. I'd not have blamed him though if he HAD spoken out against this barbaric religion whose followers exist to bomb and behead anyone who doesn't follow Islam.

Considering it was the Papal Bull of 1540 that supposedly said in maters of faith the Pope is infallable.

Himmm,,,let me think on this a second ok? So from the time Christ walked on earth, and the following 1500ish years those Popes sinned?

Last time I checked the Bible clearly stated by the Apostle Paul that "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God",,,,and theres no exceptions in there about Popes. I know, I've read it

the pope is not infalliable in matters such as these. we believe that the Holy Spirit protects him from errors when it comes to matters of the faith (John 14). just like the bible itself was written by falliable men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
this infalliability does not mean he is free from error. the pope is just a man - don't know why you thought anything else. also the robes - not velvet ; )

God's word says in the book of Roman 5:12 "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned" , and also when Jesus was on the earth he taught us :

"8 But YOU, do not YOU be called Rabbi, for one is YOUR teacher, whereas all YOU are brothers. 9 Moreover, do not call anyone YOUR father on earth, for one is YOUR Father, the heavenly One. 10 Neither be called ‘leaders,’ for YOUR Leader is one, the Christ. 11 But the greatest one among YOU must be YOUR minister. 12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."

This scripture is taken from matthew 23:8-12.
All these scriptures and others too show that the pope is just a normal man, subjected to do wrong like all other human beings...bye

The Pope has only apologised for the offence caused by the stupid people not understanding what he said.

I am sorry that you are stupid - is basically the Pope words...

The truth is out there - they have been offended by their own inability to understand what the Pope said - they are guilty not the Pope

God didn't make him apologise - They are just scared of the peace loving Muslims retribution!!! The fact that he has felt oblidged to apoligise just makes what he said seem evern more of a truism.. The state of Islam (which is a state) has done itself no favours at all again.

The Pope IS just a man. God never appointed anyone as God on earth as the catechisms tell you. He is no vicar and no man can forgive sins! When Peter was told, "upon you I will build this foundation and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it", the foundation that was to be built on was that of Jesus Christ ONLY. No one else to step in. Just a twisted Roman Catholic belief they used to make money and it still leads people astray to this day. More on this page....

The holy prophets were certainly infallible. The Popes may or may not be. Yet, the words of penitence are provided to us-- the humble mortals-- as quotations from the sayings of the Prophets. It is greatness to utter words of penitence.
