Hi,my son will turn 3 in 5 weeks.Just a week ago he refuse for the first time to get the bottle with his milk...He is picking eater and for nothing he would drink a milk from regular cup so to just make sure he is getting his daily portion of milk I didn't stop giving him at the time when everybody around me were trying to convince me .And now my son quit on his own. Some babies or kids I believe have "clock of nature" inside them. And some things they start or ending on their own.Don't push and frustrate your baby for nothing. Some kids potty train early some not .For example my sister start walking when she was 1.5 year old...me..I was 8.5 months old. :)

You just need to get rid of the bottles.... if they're around to use, he'll want to use them. Tell him he's a big boy and he obviously knows how to use a cup so he needs to give up the bottle.
Maybe get him a fun straw or cup... like a crazy straw or a cup with a favorite character on it... that will be a special thing "just for milk". Draw his attention toward the fact that he is gaining this new item for his milk drinking as he's getting bigger, do not dwell on the fact that he's losing the bottle.
It may take him a little hwile to get used to this whole "no bottle" idea, but he won't be harmed by missing out on milk for a couple of days if he's being stubborn. Like you said, he's getting plenty of calcium in other ways. Be strong and stand your ground... he won't be happy about the change, but he'll get over it soon enough and he'll be proud of himself being such a big kid.
Good luck!

My DD refused to drink milk out of a cup too. I was told to just refuse to give her milk in a bottle only a cup. If she didn't drink it then just make sure she was getting enough dairy in other foods. She would cry and scream. I just let her. It took three days for me. And she was drinking milk from a cup. Also you should never give him juice or milk at bedtime. It causes tooth decay. If he wants something to drink at bedtime give him water.

When he can hold a cup, you should try to start getting rid of the bottles. Get him to throw the bottles away or give them away. (Really throw them away!!) Tell him that instead of a bottle you will read him some bedtime stories, if you don't already read to him at bedtime. Give him some warm milk to drink in his cup, as he leans on some pillows and listens to the stories. Have you tried one of the Nuk training cups with the slow flow valve?

dont over stress yourself about it. my daughter would only go to sleep with a bottle of milk and in the morning it was the same thing. she did drink other fluids in a sippie cup.what eventually happened was she didnt want it anymore.kids are funny they know what they like and dont your child will eventually stop besides hes only two.its comforting to them.if it really bothers you try getting small cartons of milk and letting him have it with a straw.u know kids love drinking anything with a straw especiallly if its one of those crazy swirly straws.good luck.

same problem--- we just told our kids that if you want milk it will be a sipper cup or plastic cup no more bottles because your are big kids now and big kids do not drink from bottles --of course a little Ovaltine ( malt chocolate mix ) helped
