the homeless? do you clothe or feed them or ignore them when passing by. now if i werent doing anything myself i wouldnt ask. but are you afraid to give them money regardless to what they will do with it. is it your call to judge or are you helping? i was reading the bible and from matthew 25:25-46. is it our calling as to what we give to help. all homeless people are not homeless by choice, well i should say most are not there by choice, are we as christians not just spreading the word but being doers also and helping our fellow brethrens. if so good deal if not why? i know that there are covenant homes and that is what i am starting, and to read some of the answers in my other post all cities dont have the same help. those that do good. but we have to work on our backyard first.

Unless you are homeless yourself, you have no idea.
Check out my blog.
God calls on us to be doers, as well as believers.
A covenant home is a good idea, and if you need help, even though I have no money, I would be glad to help in exchange for room and board.

It's amazing how you would say that. I had a similar conversation with someone about this the other day. When I give money to the homeless, I give it with a willing heart and hopefully they will use it for a wise purpose. Now if they are just pretending to be what they are not....then, that's between them and God.
I had an incident a few years ago where this Indian man (from india) was dressed all ragidy and he looked so desperate. He came to the bus stop and asked me for money and I gave it to him to buy a sandwich. I went into the mall and came back and he was still there, this time smoking a cigarette and everyone that came by he did the same thing to them. So I can understand, when some people would think twice about giving them stuff. We live in a society that people pretend to be who they are not.
Also Homelessness, there are alot of people who are because of having no choice but there are also people who are homeless because they want to be. When I was a teenager, I ended up in a situation like that because of abuse and there were alot of teenager at covenant house who would go to there parents/families house in the day time and come to the shelter at night. Some of them said plainly that "there were too many rules at home" or they didn't want to work because when you are in a shelter the government gives you money. So I can understand why some people will think twice about giving. Unfortunately the good always have to suffer for the bad.

I've been homeless before, it's not fun. I also know the tricks and the trades of the game, who really is homeless and who's posing to be, etc. So I give money, rides, and whatnot to those that I know need it. I've actually put up 2 homeless girls before. (No not for sex, that's saved for the men ;-D)
Thing is, I'm not even christian!

Most homeless where I live are homeless by choice. There are always agencies willing to help them getoff thestreets. They just don't want to give up the booze and drugs to join the rest of society.

Well I believe the opposite of you, I think most homeless people are that way because they choose to be lazy, and I am not here to work my azz off to keep a roof over my head and theirs

You're really God sent for the poor my sister....do what you think is right..,don't mind the detractors...have'nt you heard the proverb that says..." the closer you to God the more temptation you'll encounter " I think if you're really good inside you don't have to be a christian to that...I have a friend & he's a Protestant he's very generous too.
When you give it should be coming from your heart regardless of where the alms would go.
" The wise woman does not lay up treasure. The more she give to others..,the more she has for her own. "
Keeo it up sister...
May God grace showers you always...
