Now I have NOTHING against you at all, and I realise that alot of the violence we see doesn't represent the religion. This isn't about violence. This is more about the preaching you have all been doing lately. Tonight alone I've had at least 10 people tell me to read the Qu'ran. You're setting a precident for your religion by doing this, and honestly people like me don't like it. You're becoming like the christians (No offense to christians, I just don't like how you all preach and evangelize.) and I thought you were better than that.

Please, don't go down that path. I've read the Qu'ran already, and it's not for me.

Not really a question as much as a statement, sorry.

warden14 : Sort of like Christians in the days of old. Or do I need to remind you of the crusades and witch hunts?

Just to clear something up, I chose to read the Qu'ran before anyone told me to. I try to educate myself on most religions, so I don't think they forced me to, I just don't want them to turn out how the christians did (Once again, no offense).

PS: If I seem defensive, this is actually my belief that religion should be completely personal and not brought up unless asked about.

That shows clearly that none of us really want to change our position, religiously just by listening to other religious point of view. A Muslim is well entrenched in his faith; so does a Christian and he is so much fond of his religion, he wants to convert every other person that he meets. You feel Islam is not for you, and you have already read their 'Koran'. Where does it all take us? I am more than convinced that organized religion is evil. Evangelizing is evil; compulsion in religion is evil; God is above these petty evils. He is not in these religions. God is in his heavens; all is not well with this world. Let us leave him alone.

if you read history you will see other religions lived side by side w/Muslim societies and felt protected there, so I miss the point on the "forcing" by the sword issue other than its a boring perpetuating misconception that historians Muslim or not, do not verify.. They were not forced to change or give up their religions. A problem starts when one's land is taken forcefully, or if one is told he/she can't practice their religion.
As for religious talk to you if you are not interested, It would be as to a prize rose gardener telling you about his roses and how he raises them. Even if you may not be interested, it would be natural fo r him to mention them from time to time as it is his most prized possesion and loved activity. If he pressures you to raise roses even after you said you dont want to, that's irritating. But if he mentions it and how wonderful it is and how you might want to smell one or have one, its just human nature of sharing something good that you value and a friendly gesture. You seem very defensive in this dept. Do you really think "read the Quran" is an aggresive act of prosyletizing?(where is spell check?its not showing up !)

The religion is great but the followers aren't.

Quran is not meant to be read just like any novel. If treat it as such, you will receive it as such. If you read it to look for verses for your own selfish needs, you will it get what you want. If you read it to find the truths, Allah will open your heart and guide you to the truth.

In Islam everything you do is base on your niat (intention). If you niat is good, good will comes out of it. If your niat is bad...

The Quran says, there's no compulsion in religion (2:256)

Al-Kafirun Chapter 109
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Say: O you who deny the truth
I do not worship what you worship,
nor do you worship what I worship.
And I will not worship what you worship,
Nor will you worship what I worship.
Your way is yours, and my way is mine.

i am glad and u have my respects that u stand for what u beleive and i am glad that i stand up for what i beleive.

did i force u to read it?. i dont think so. u have ur FREEWILL AND FREEDOM OF RELIGION/NO RELIGION. when Allah doesnt have a problem i will not definitely. u stand up for what u beleive and i stand up for what i beleive. but yes if someone tries to give me false quotes from my Qu'ran, then i will have to ask the person to re-read it. why? because people never realise that how the verses are connected to history. most of the verses speak of historical events before Muhammed-pbuh.

i guess islam is like communism where people were programmed into a set thinking till the time they stop resisting and give in to the system , thats why you woudl read stereotype answers from them, probably thats why they would always ask you to read quran, or say allah is great and deniel of other religion. but on the hindsight look at what russia and china did to its citizens , everything has a flipside the muslims just dont want to see thiers

Ok...no offence ,did u really understand why they ask you to read al-quran? They're not trying to preach you ,they're trying to show you THAT is where the RIGHT source is. Qur'an n Sunnah. Not from any preacher asking those idiots to go and kill themselves

Your missing the point. Put in a position of strength Muslims wont ask you to be part of their religion, they will force you to join. And should you try to leave the faith or convert to another religion the automatic sentence is death. Islam has nothing to do with gentle persuasion, its about converting by force and ruling by fear.

i think evrything is going against islam, couse the muslims r doing that to themsleves, i dont think the religion is liek that way, muslims didnt really understood whats islam, and i think islam religion is really great, and i think that its in evryone, if u read quraan, it doesnt only talks about religion, it also talks about history, sence, math, and evrything usefull. so i think muslim people doesnt really fit into that great religon.

You should read the Qur'an.

And the Bible.

And Aesop's Fables too. Just for good measure, you know...

A crazy fundamentalist is the same as any other, no matter what his religion is. of course, to read the quran, you'd have to learn arabic, since they claim it hasn't been changed or translated since the first copy. AS IF!
