What makes you like them?

Laural.I like military history.I like the authenticity of a well made movie.
I'm also fascinated as to why women like them.

I love the war movies, particularly those set in the olden times, such as Troy, Gladiator and so on.
The appeal is in the image of honour and glory that war had in those days(although in reality it may not have been quite so glorious) and in the call to war. I think this is the highlight- having the leader give a pep talk and rouse the legions as they all burst into attack.

I love war movies... just to sit down with my father and have him put in his comments about what his experiences were like makes GREAT quality bonding... My personal favorite is Hamburger Hill, but I think Platoon and We Were Soldiers are a VERY close second.

saving private ryan is cool. and does schilinder's list count as a war movie? it's horrifiying but the fact that the director stayed close tot the reality of the situation and time was amazing. definity not good exposure for children.

yes I do! I loved Patton & I loved the HBO mini-series Band of Brothers. Not quite sure why I like them. I guess its because I like movies that show real life, and unfortunately war is real & this world will always have wars and rumors of wars!

I think Three Kings is one of the most intelligent movies made in recent years.
And, of course, as another poster has pointed out, Schindler's List is extraordinary.
