because there is too much in this day and age that god does not do or protect people.
If a church going woman who lives and breaths the bible gets raped what did she do to deserve this?
or is it the usual answer "its godswill'

First, God is our lord, and not our servant. God (because of His kindness) will provide us with food and protection, but we cannot order Him to do everything we want as if He is our servant. One cannot just shout and order God to protect the chruch from lightning while he do nothing.
Second, God has already give us the protection in form of "science and knowledge". We can use the science and knowledge (which have been given by God) to avoid lightning strike our home.
Third, one verse in bible say not to be test God. Why so many misery in earth? Because so many good guys (yes... that's including us) just watching and doing nothing while bad guys doing a lot of destruction.

No, it isn't.
Do you have a lock on your front door?
Do you lock your car in the mall parking lot?
Do you take your kids to the Dr. if they're sick?
Do you have surgery if your appendix burst?
If you trust God will protect you & yours, why do you do these things?
It's called responsibility, not distrust.
