I would add to Mustafa's answer that Islam is meant to be the FINAL legislation for the entire HUMANITY where Judaism was restricted to the Israelis and to that time period from Moses (peace be upon him) to Mohammad (peace be upon him)

Actually they both practice circumcision.
anyhow, ontologically speaking... they are almost identical - especially in the concept of One God... and God not being incarnate in human form. The chief epistemological difference is Judaism does not accept Jesus as their awaited Messiah (where as Islam does) and in addition Judaism does not accept Muhammad as a Prophet of God (where as Islam does).
It's due to these two matters that Islam is favored by God over Judaism.

From an ontological perspective, there is no chief difference between Judaism and Islam--since epistemologically they are both invalid and limited due to the fact that they do not believe Christ to be the Messiah.

Uhm... The J.
But seriously, if I recall correctly, there is actually no difference between the 2 in this case, as is true with Christianity, since all 3 believe in the existance of the same god (Though few realise this). Actually, I don't see a way that these religions would affect the existance of god through the own conscious thoughts that god exists.
