I think he was certainly a little 'short sighted'.

When he made the speach where these comments were made, he started by saying that it was a quote. He was just quoting from a medieval text book. He quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and an educated Persian on the truths of Christianity and Islam.
Even though it was a quotation from an old book and not his own words, he made a simple error but it does not give these Muslims the right to kill a nun, burn churches, etc. and do all the other tragedies they are responsible for in this world.

Well...the pope did say what he should not have...but then he did apologize ....but the words irresponsible and ignorant is more suitable for the muslims who acted so irresponsibly and ignorantly that they showed the world that ISLAM is a religion of intolerance. I don't agree with that comment pope read...but u muslims anyway...proved it right...by killing the nuns...and fighting each other....and creating large violence protests....
Have u ever seen a real christian protests....well let me tell u...a christian protest is very peacefull...where even the culprit is not called by horrible words...and so on...and thats why...christianity is a proven tolerant religion....and islam is becoming highly intolerant religion.

Aslam,
Provided you are not mentioning the sarcasting images of the Pope Al Jazeera is broadcasting
Provided you're not mentioning the huge lack of respect muslims display each time they cut the head of a christian or a catholic
Provided you're greatly displaying your ignorance and incapability to dig a little bit deeper into things before opening your mouth (I am sure Allah will forgive you for this though)
Provided i am sure you NEVER read the whole speech of the Pope (and i forgive those who are brainwashing you)
I would like to invite you to give less air to your mouth, close the tap of your rage against those who are probably feeding you and read the full speech....

We don't expect your apologies...contrarily to what christians can do, we are aware that muslims never say sorry for anything. They think they are always right.

Pope Benedict vs Dr. Zakir naik? confident i understand its overdue of me asking this question in spite of everything the hype died down yet i nevertheless wanna understand why might Zakir Naik run faraway from having a open debate on faith in front of the worldwide media .Does this propose that Zakir Naik has no self belief interior the validity of his faith i.e. Islam. Ans: because of the fact zakir is familiar with that the cult he follows would be uncovered as quickly as back.

Did you actually read the Pope's lecture? I'm an atheist, so I don't agree with his religion, but even I can agree that he said the exact opposite of what you suggest - i.e. he was arguing that using violence should be anathema to all religions. Are you just trying to stir up trouble?

His comments had to do with violence. I'm just trying to figure out why a nonviolent group of people practicing a nonviolent religion would respond violently to his comments by burning churches.
