Well, I think it's rich coming from the church that sanctioned the Crusades. The Pope seems to have a short memory...

Of course Islam has a violent side. That's one of the things that makes it so similar to Christianity and all of the 'big-name' religions.

It just seems uglier coming from the Pope's mouth than anyone else's.

despite the fact i'm a catholic and the pope is the titular head of the roman catholic church... it doesn't mean i adhere to all he says as true to my belief and my value. each statement of anyone is always interpreted several ways. in my point of view, it was highly controversial and highly deragatory remark to another faith... but not necessary an attack as others say it was. he did erred in his manner of addressing the issue. and it's unkind to say such things. but the error was done, and he apologize. however, the fault committed spark so much controversy. and might lead into more rift in religious divide. i say again, it was wrong, but he too is a man, a religious leader who commits mistake so let's bury the hatchet and seek the forgiveness of the errors committed. to the moslems, as a catholic, the pontiff, the catholics spiritual leader erred... we apologize for what has been done... we sincerely hope that such apologies be accepted...
